Took the driver side spring out so the car sits flat and not leaning any more.

I don't know if it's just me but putting the susoension/shocks back in is an absolute ball ache

Normally just release the upper arm from the chassis side and slide them past

Yeh I was doing that. Its getting the screw back in the bottom hole to bolt it back. Up that I struggle with. Maybe should put that in first and then push the top hat in.

Will be much easier with coil overs I'm sure as they will be shorter in overall length

Anyone know of any place about how to change the mx5 power steering rack to non power steering?

Is it as simple as take lines off, seal up holes and job done?

You need to strip it down and have a look at the quill shaft because like the RX-7 FD and the RX-8 it may well need welding to strengthen it.

Reason is, the quill shaft design is designed to be assisted by power, rather than being just forced through the steering wheel and the column
Many years ago I was told about a guy who just took the power off his FD rack and the quill shaft sheared and he crashed with no steering !
All the best Clive

Got my front pulley on, so now it's got accurate timing marks

Accidentally pulled the key way out of the front and it wouldn't got back in but figured out I needed to get the front counter weight and timing gear lined up properly to get it to slide in

Treated myself to one of these and the accompanying stud kits.

Just need an oil pickup tube for an FC now as the one I I have isn't for an FC sump

Sooooo pedal boxes.... I'm really not liking the brake master cylinder and clutch master in my way so I'm thinking of binning it off completely.

What's good? What's not good?

Iv got the engine and gear box back in and in perfect position now, engine has lifted up a bit but I can live with that, the fuel rails that I'm adding will interfere with the bonnet but nothing I can sort easily

As you can see in the picture the mx5 subframe engine mounts are a lot better suited to an FC engine mounts position. A lot closer and easier to make strong mounts with

Engine is central and level and also tilts back a couple degrees to help with an air locks should that happen when it's start up time.

Clutch master cylinder has always been in the way even when I put the engine in the first time so out it comes, compromising just isn't an option.

I need to mount a throttle pedal anyway as the mx5 is DBW so getting a pedal box benefits me in a fair few ways

Mr Spiller

Yeah
That engine mount is in a much better position
Brakes ?
I thought they had parachutes

Yeh only need some small brakes, something to look at in the furute to take weight off the front but for now need to use these. Iv just pulled all the pedals out now.

Loads more room in that corner now and it also mean that the existing brake lines can go/cut back and altered accordingly.

A pedal box is going to make it easier to plumb in the clutch slipper.

I watch the boosted boiz YouTube channel, iv commented on a video over a year ago for them to put a clutch slipper on the mr2 they have that has been pulling massive wheelies, well they just fitted one, it stopped pulling wheelies and put the car 100th off the world record fastest mr2...

So yeh they work good
