Help and advice needed please

Hi everyone,

I bought a rx8 with a single turbo rx7 engine a few months ago but my biggest issue with it was it was using an rx7 engine loom and rx7 Adaptronics and trying to get it running has been a nightmare especially after having to redo almost all of the previous owners work!
So after taking in a lot of advise and ideas I have decided to change the engine loom with a rx8 loom and an rx8 Adaptronic ecu,
Most of it I think I know what to do and other stuff I will be able to workout
but the one thing I need advice on is what to do about triggers and how I can keep a throttle cable instead of fly by wire.

Any help would be really appreciated

I ran an RX-8 loom for a long time, so that's a way forward, then fitting a pedal and cable will solve a lot of issues as its a simple way forward that will stop the car going into limp mode.

What fuel system is the car using, i.e. what pump does it have and a return back to the tank, a fuel pressure regulator ?

what did you do about the trigger setup?

I’m running twin 044s with swirl pot return back to swirl tank and using a aeromotive fuel pressure regulator.

Id do lift and 044 on a seperate bespoke loom x2 30 amp relays and fused respectively  either trigger relays of egi relay or racecar 2 switches.

Clive you run and rx8 trigger on the rx8 loom into the standard 8 ecu with the adaptronic piggy back?
So have you fitted rx8 trigger wheel to fd engine?

The 8 standard pcm does a throttle flyby wire check on start up thats why theres a seperate ETV relay which position 2 switches on and the throttle body does a start up wot check the TB pots feed back into loom to check this..before cranking this etv relay drops out again a check of safety control....if this does not happen car runs but throttle pedal does not work...its in limp..
Im not sure if this is retained on a standalone adaptronic...
Clives car has fully functional flyby wire throttle...
Adaptronic need asking if this function is retained on 8 ecu...else it will not work.
The rx7 apexi to run the 7 engine only needs 2 lives eng cont and eng cont 1. I dont know why that wont work? I was starting a rx7 fd race car wire but i got ill and couldnt complete and got far behind with my own projects.
The 8 dash needs the 8 ecu (pcm) to work.abs tc etc as on can bus....ideally all abs tc etc needs junking else it infers with cars power.

Me..id be looking at standalone dash.
Junk abs tc etc...rx7 apexi run engine.
This is not a road car? Rx8 pcm...does loads not just run engine...

I think with the rx8 way you need flyby wire as intended theres been conversions using 8 and cable throttle but they dont seem to be around anymore and run into problems. Hence the question to adaptronic...whether the safety features of flyby wire control are retained.
7 way no std dash no ac no abs etc unless run the 8 pcm for this functions and 7 pcm for engine. I cant 100% say i know how todo it i need to look at drawings i was involved in a 7 race car build but i got ill so need to relook at drawings.
Ill get a drawing up in a couple of days...in middle of night shifts atmo.
