I'm confused, which is which bit and why so much pipe with no turbo? Lol

Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk

Jamie R

Lol well there's no room underneath for exhaust to run

I bought one of these stupid cars where the body bolts to the chassis where the exhaust tunnel would be

And turbos don't interest me that much lol

Looks good though, got to. Work in the space you have. Some strategic heat shielding should help with the heat

Ah ok, i heard about a 25% decrease in temps if white cermaic is used.

Was gonna get some of that formable stuff that you have to stop burning ya feet in the foot well in addition to the cermaic. Just a belt n braces especially around the plastic intake manifold.

Afternoon all, not been on for a while.

Well i should be in Portugal sipping on a G&T in the sun by the pool. (Pawl for Wayne lol )

But due to the man flu going round we postponed our holibobs 12 months. So had this week in Devon / Cornwall enjoying ourselves.

Even Clive spotted I was at the beach ! lol Nevermind, Brand Hatch next week, looking forward to that.

Anyway back to the Pedalo......

Ive tried numerous iterations of headlight covers, Im on round 3 and still failing. Ive decided to give up on that and try summat different.

Polycarbonate is obviously the best thing to use from an impact strength perspective at 250 times stronger than glass, but heating it up and "drape forming" wont work on my 3D shaped cover. Its too intricate, its fine for making windows to replace the glass in the car...... bottom line is they need to be thermo-formed which involves having billet aluminium CNC machined, a heating and cooling core running through it and a vacuum to suck the molten polycarb to the formers. £££££££

Round 1 was with 3mm polycarb, no good.
Round 2 was with 1mm polycarb, no good.
Round 3 was with 3mm acrylic, it bends beautifully!!!! Tap it with a hammer afterwards and it just cracks.

It cracks when i cut it or drill it. Imagine a cold morning blasting round and a stone flicking up from the car in front and bang.

I even phoned a plastic moulding company down by Malcolm that did prototype work. He cut me short halfway through my explanation and said he wont even entertain polycarb, its a pig to work with, leaves marks and just no.......

He even said they mould massive hemispherical dome which they can fit 4 people in. Im thinking back to those american custom cars of the 60s and 70s that had a clear bubble roof instead of a normal roof with glass, yeah you know the ones.

Well he said acrylic is no good for my application.

So the only option at this stage is head light shrouds. FD below shows what I mean, Ive posted some of my disastrous attempts too for you to mock me lol, yes yes i am human after all hahaha
