That sounds very suggestive lol

The worst bit is defying gravity and laying up upside down, cutting pieces no bigger than 100mm x 100mm to prevent the weight of the wet matting fall away.

Oh and getting resin my beard !

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Yes I think you're right, I lost 3 hairs today pulling resin out, but 1 of them was grey so I don't mind so much lol

So..... having read boat loads on Jons westory thread, few questions.... and Malcolm Im repeating myself so apologies....

Interesting to see the choice of wheels on Jons car play an important part, with the whole weight or lack of weight issue.

Im going with 17" steels so hopefully the slighter taller sidewall and a bit more weight will cure any unsettling.

Love the sock in the shifter hole, better than that blue gear stick! lol

So for future reference....

Is there much noticeable diff in performance between Street and Bridge porting? Im aiming to keep the Rotus road legal so there could be a compromise on out and out power vs drivability....

Is it worthy of different gearbox internals, I don't need a full on quaife set, but should I be installing a close ratio set with long first gear or are the standard ratios fine?

I don't know how many different ratios are available for the diff. Im thinking it may be worth buying a few diffs off ebay and get them rebuilt with different ratios, then its a few bolts to swap them over and being able to have a play with different set ups?

Interesting from Jons thread a comment that says that the Adaptronic ECU "doesnt give more power"

Im still pondering that one, as I have far from a standard set up, and I don't have Jons electrical knowledge to over come any issues.

Is an RX8 steering rack available in quick rack maybe 2.2 or 2.4 turns lock to lock, then again I don't know what the standard is......

Electric water pump???

I have a whole host of others like separate oil tanks with 2 stroke oil??? but as you know im still fannying about with fibreglass and Im not even at the stage of chucking a freshly built engine back in.....

Just rather it was "right" first time.

Well, I have heard that there is big differense in engines behaviour between street and bridge port. In paper, there is not much, but engine pick up and so on is much better.

Good bridge port can make really nice power. I reckon you can go with full bridge. Aux ports and those valves basically determines how much that engine makes in top end. As for drivebilety, those aux ports opens in high revs, so I dont think it matters in street use...

If your car stays light, 6 speed box is good enough. As Jon said, gear rations at those things are great. 5speed box is basically same that FD has, so that wont brake. However, in paper, I dont know if those rations suits your car.

There is few options for diff rations. Unfortunately, I think it is 4.88, is that one that everyone want so they cost quite alot

As for ecu, Renny ecu is actually quite amazing. Really clever and adaptive. You can "flash" it with some mazda software

I would go electric water pump definetly. Remember, if engine is red hot, for some reason it stops, water flows thru it still..

Just few thoughts

Not sure, if anyone has used this before, but I find this extremely useful at times.

pop your existing wheel / tyre package in, and then your new proposed package and it spits out a whole load of helpful info.
