Yes, however it's still limited to 4k currently

Mmmm the switch over off the ports is very subtle and at 4k your not switching anyway...cant remember the switch points offhand..think 4500 and 7500.
Not sure tbh

Just about to tick over 1k. Going to dump the oil and change the oil filter. Also Raise the rev limit if I get the go ahead from Carl :)

It may be an idea to check that Intake Manifold SSV Secondary Shutter  valve is free and not carboned up as it could be the actuator trying to work it that's making that noise  you describe.

This is what it looks like out of the lower inlet
All the best Clive

The only other thing is the vfad...have you capped the vac line at the manifold?

Coincidently pops up after I've just created a fire ball in the back box. It's this something I need to be worried about? Seems as though you know a bit about the codes

As you begin to use full revs on fresh rebuild and few codes for misfires are likely to occur.
Id be inclined go do another relearn 20 brake stomp to.
In what instance?

I did the ecu reset on the way home. Still showed P0301.
Only thing I think it might be is I tweaked the coil pack dwell settings to the ones I found on rx8 forum. Wonder if that's causing the problem.
Didn't have any faults with the engine in the rx8 with standard dwell settings.

Or do I stop fooling around and buy new packs and leads

Right that's original settings back on and stomp reset done.
The car is still really quite juddery and spluttery on idle. I take that isn't normal. I'm used to idi diesels you see, not petrol cars
