Update:

Been out for a lenghty drive with some 3rd and 4th gear pulls, cruising in traffic and a stop in a layby idling....not a hint of smoke from exhaust.

Checked the oil level before setting off 1/2 on dipstick pulled over in layby after good drive and 2nd catch tank with the breather filter sodden with oil...check oil level about 20 times....and at half on dipstick!  so old oil in system been carried out whilst breathing..me thinks...should woulda coulda cleaned it all out i suppose....

so back running perfect on the road.

I gotta say this drive i just had was pure motoring Nivarna probably the best drive ive had in the FD, traffic lights green rh lanes on dual carriageways clear all topped off by some nice west country fast flowing a and b roads whistling by normal people in there mpv's laden with topboxes and bicyles.  Yesterday Ebay today the sunset lol...The pendulum swing of Rotary ownership strikes again.

so what do we do, redesign oil catch system etc ....Got a Trackday next saturday....think ill take the Westy and try not to blow it up..... :13:

Here we go Jon, as promised

All done with 1/2 id heater hose (13mm) except for the No 1 "exhaust which is 8mm id

Number 3 is the only vent from the engine and Number 4 is the pipe that would drop the oil back in the engine if any oil actually gets into the can.

With number 1 and 2 being exhausts the idea is to have more outlet than inlet volume so no pressure builds in the can.

As you know I'm running a stock un-baffled sump with a restricter in the lower filler tube which is low enough to stop the oil washing over the centre iron from going back up the filler neck, then for good measure a piece of fuel tank foam is poked under the cap to let the fumes "breath" but restrict oil if it gets high enough to get up the neck.

Lastly only fill to the half way mark on the stick.

So far I've been to Snetterton, Brands and the worst one of all for surge, Castle Coombe with no issues at all after 4 or 5 different variations of can and breather sytems this one WORKS .

Hope this helps

Whoops, yes my "James Bond" oil pipes run all the way under the car and exit under the rear bumper valence .

This is so if any oil does get out down the outlets it won't get on the rear tyres

well im annoyed nobody has enquired about Percy, no wildlife rescue is interested...hes just vermin....but a life is a life....hes been eating bird seed and water in his cardboard Avairy....and trying to get out....tomoz on the Whitehorse is release day....unsure if hes gonna fly away but he will be released up there in a secluded spot and have to see what happens...natural selection i suppose....

well last night lend in bed thinking about my side seals....are they blowing by on boost...are my Oil control rings shot....

well did the bonnet up stare point scratch head for awhile then removed everything and decided todo a test for blowby....
ala 2 pipes from filler nipples into water bottle with a slit cut in the side so cap off big vent to atmosphere...warmed up on drive quick spin out on local roads 30 plus pulls to 13psi and redline in 2 and 3....cruise home....

now these are pipes that have been used for yonks so poss some oil on the inside surface....this is what i got.....
Tiny amount teaspoon max....this has got to ok? right  :sign0085: its a bit frothy tiny amount....... :sign0085:

Brise custom made it for me to fit in the available space, damn thing has cost a fortune as from memory it was modded twice after being initially made in the search for a breather system that actually worked.

Seriously, we had fancy baffle plates and all sorts of things going on but now its just an empty tank, so you should be able to get a standard catch can and just weld a couple more inlets and outlets

Yes mate the fact your vent comes outta top of filler cap big bore pipe im off to Merlin tomoz with car and offer some up tanks in that position...its more oil/ air seperator with the foam and big pipe than catch tank...i was going at it completely the wrong way try to suppress flow....cow horns removed from my car lol.
