Will do. Just got do a few hundred more miles before I can drop the running in oil. Then we will see what she can do

Hi folks, after a little advice on how I can reduce the exhaust noise before I take her back to the dyno. I love the noise it makes but it's going to make me deaf. Feels like I've been at a rock concert after just 30 mins sat in traffic.  I believe The current exhaust is from an old escort rally car which is twin pipes straight through to a pre-packable muffler which has just been repacked.

Looking for a cost effective solution as my restoration budget has long gone. So do any of you guys have a view on how best to reduce the noise without compromising power and costing the earth?

Cheers Chris

From the threads I've read about exhausts. The ideal set up seems to be long primaries with a resonator on each pipe, merged into 1 just before the rear axle and then a good muffler on the back. If I'm picturing it right then you're just missing the resonators? Shouldn't cost much ;D

Thanks very much for the advice. You pictured it correctly. Will let you know how I get on with the resonators

Have a little look at the link below as either the full system or parts will make the car more liveable for you.

Hope this helps

Thanks Clive, some good options there. Will have to checkout my existing setup for compatibility with the pre-silencers . Would love the full system, may be next year

Cheers Chris

Hi Chris. That's good progress there so far. What were the wheels that you replaced? I quite like the look of those.

Hi Dave, I believe the original wheels that were on the car where from a ford escort. They had slick tyres on for the track. But unfortunately the stud pattern wasn't an exact match for the hubs. The holes on each wheel had been ground out a little to make them fit. So not very safe really.

Been awhile since my last update. But finally found time to work on the car. Ordered some new polycarb windows too.

Lightweight windows, getting serious now  ;)

Not sure if it helps to know now, but I have a complete brand new Gen1 exhaust system sitting around without a mum or dad that's going up for sale cheaper than retail
