How did you guess  ;)

KIMI - from the Japanese for "Odd/Strange". The owner of my 1st 1st Gen  :) for over 25 years was "Mr Odd" (seriously!). Seanp came up with the idea and I thought it a good way to keep the connection with the original owner who looked after her for so long.

Also found this interesting definition  :)

As for the roof storage - don't worry, it's only some lightweight cardboard sheets and some tarps on the roof, used to protect the garage floor when I'm working with POR15 and related messy prep work under the chassis. Not much weight and there is a sheet under it all!

Oh I see. Now, actually it makes sense now. And good name when you think about it :)
I was thinking to name bros car too. Came up with Yukikaze. Because Juki is his nickname and for japanese is snow. And kaze is wind in japanese. But for that name to work, car should be white, not red :D

As for roof storage, bad Casey bad ;)

KIMI 2 is now MOT'd and taxed and so I gave her a run out of ~30 miles this morning, the most miles she's done since being laid up in 2005! Started cold first time and also started hot (immediately, no hesitation!) twice after stopping for a few photos and fuel. All good, she drove well, getting her to the buzzer a few times when warm. I now have a long list of non-urgent items to do over the winter, but feeling really chuffed after the drive.

Thanks guys - the paintwork in general is very good, but the photos don't show the areas that need some attention - quite a few rust spots that need work before they take hold. But, for a 32 year old car, she ain't bad at all  :)

John

Hi fb looks in great condition .

Casey

Thanks John; she's pretty good overall, but better in the pics than in reality! There are a few annoying, very visible, rust spots in the paintwork though. I'm going to try a touch-up job, which may not look too good, but at least I'll make sure to get the rust sorted.

Found a slight pool of coolant under the car a couple of days ago, after car had stood for about 2 weeks. Only a few tablespoons at most. Unable to locate the source so have cleaned up the area (around the sump, driver's side) and hoping to spot where it's coming from and then sort it.

I'd love to take her out for a run on a dry day, but the roads are white with salt around here so decided against it  :(

If the water is running off the front of the sump, there's the possibility that its leaking from the water pump gland.

Take the pump pulley of and see if there is residue around the small relief hole under the nose of the pump.

Maybe the intake manifold leaking if you haven't sorted it already? It's not uncommon for the O rings to leak aye. Coolant usually puddles up on top of the manifold where it joins to the block. Mine looked like glue hahah. I replaced mine with some 20mm core plugs. Won't lose any coolant if you need to take the manifold off afterwards now also ;). Mazda still sell the gasket and I can find a part number if it turns out to be this :)

Here you can see why my O rings were leaking ha. This is how it came off the car. You can also see the glue like coolant sitting on top of the manifold

Thanks Clive and Jesse - I haven't had a chance to take another look, but my suspicion at the time was that the coolant was coming down from the above the exhaust ports as there seemed to be some signs of moisture just visible. I wasn't aware this was "not uncommon"?

That manifold looks like something out of a horror movie   :)

Darn, it looks like I'll have to remove the carb to take a closer look then.
