The MOT result is in.......................

:( Fail

The good news is, nothing major  :) Two issues to sort;
1. Handbrake efficiency below requirements. I should have really picked this up, but the car has been on the level for all the time I've had it, so didn't notice  :-[ Hopefully an easy fix. Main brakes are fine and evenly balanced across each axle.
2. Corrosion near the driver rear suspension mount (on the sill). However, it doesn't look too severe, so hopefully an easy welding job.

Ian Mothersole phoned me this morning about 10am asking if he could tag along to the MOT test, which was great. We both hung around the MOT test guy, who was happy to tell us progress in real time as he performed the checks.

To save the hassle, I'm taking the car back tomorrow to the same garage for them to fix both issues and hopefully get her through the MOT. I must say a big thank you to Ian Mothersole who is taking time out tomorrow to escort me down to the garage and to bring me back when I leave the car down there  :)

Overall, I'm disappointed not to get her through first time, but not surprised, as she's been off the road for 10 years!

Hopefully, I'll have better news soon, providing when they start poking at the rusty sill they don't find it has spread further than it appears!

Under the circumstances I would class that as an epic near miss. :13: I admire the amount of time and work you have put into this and KIMI 1 :icon_salut:. Also a good use of your retirement fund.  ;D

Wow, 3001 posts  :) :-[

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.

There was a breakdown on the A12 Colchester by-pass this morning so the trip to the garage took 50 minutes, instead of 15! I took the roads through Colchester to avoid the A12 carnage, but huge amounts of traffic was coming off the A12 too, so gridlock everywhere  :( The good news is, Kimi 2 behaved superbly with all the stop/start, idling at 800rpm and the handbrake felt better by the end of the journey through lots of use!

I spoke to Steve, the guy doing the welding, and asked him to take his time and do a good job on the welding. He reassured me he would treat KIMI 2 as if it were his own and showed me some of his recent welding work on a customer's Jag - which looked really neat  :)

Hoping the work will be completed today - fingers firmly crossed!

^^ Disk brakes all round  - I did change one caliper on the rear for a better one, plus refurbed a front caliper (see earlier photos of that one). Clearly the hyrdaulic brakes are OK as they passed fine, but it is the handbrake efficiency of the caliper I changed on the rear that was the problem.

Anyways, just got the call to collect the car from the garage office. No details, so I assume everything is fixed. Ian is picking me up in a few minutes to take me to collect.

Watch this space.......................  :)

Feeling really chuffed and happy, just need Colchester United to win tonight (we are going to watch them shortly) and it will have been an epic day  :13:

Woohoo excellent and when taxing you could take advantage of the direct debit option allowing you to tax a car for a month at a time.

Just realised I haven't put up a pic of both my FB's together, so here we go, took this earlier today, tucked safely in my garage;
