Hi guys,
Had my RX7 a week now and bought it knowing there were problems but for the car i wanted it was worth it, last owner was losing coolant, so when i got it i checked everything i could, pump leaked! coolant sender leaked, replaced both, tried it on a run and the overflow tube from AST  to expansion tank joining connector under air box parted. lost all coolant!repaired that and replaced AST cap for new one, tried the car again all fine on motorway, for 5 miles, then temp guage creeps up to hot so pull over, no leaks both fans going, running a bit rough when its that hot, guage stabilises, so set off again, after 3 miles coolant buzzer goes off, then settles down again for another 2 miles then goes continuously, pulled over in the middle of nowhere and a black RX7 from nowhere to help! (never normally see one!)Thanks Andy, decide to limp home as no leaks visible, check coolant level in morning, it needs a litre! when i took cap off there was vacuum in engine, bit puzzled by all this, no white smoke on startup! i think the water was displaced to expansion tank because it gets so hot! any ideas guys please, for a new owner, could it be thermostat?sorry long post!
Thanks Bob

Possibly thermo, also did you check for air pocket in the radiator as you may need to bleed the rad??? i say this as if it overheated and then cooled down and then within a couple of miles did it again it may well need bleeding??

Also while you are having these problems don\'t drive the rx as if it keeps overheating you are risking apex seals wearing out and making the risk of rebuild greater.

Get the car up a ramp check all hoses, then check for air pockets, then bleed if required, until satisfied keep checking the coolant level, ok Bud if all else fails ring a specialist.

Does the coolant run out of the overflow whilst the engine is running? If you top up your coolant and leave the central cap off does it push the coolant out?

If any of the above sound familiar you\'ll have a damaged water seal I\'m afraid which means a rebuild. Hopefully you\'ve just got some air in the system that needs to be bled off.
Cheers

Thanks for reply guys,
i have bled the system by slackening off the heater hose after warming up, burped the bottom rad hose, and bled the hose to throttle body, would that bleed the rad? or is there another bleed screw on the rad, i must say the rad itself does not seem to get hot but the top tube from rad to pump does!so i assume water is passing through it,is there a way to bleed the rad, ive not seen that mentioned before, if i run the engine with cap off filler tube water will rise up and out of it, with some bubbles as well it certainly does not stay at a constant level! but does not smell of gases at all.
Thanks  Bob

That bit doesnt sound good :(

I would take it to some one reputable for diagnosis rather than waste time guessing any more.`

EDIT: you\'re in Dorset - go see Tim at RX Motors...
