Ordering the rx8 performance parts. Sump tomoz. From the UsA . Should solve the surge issue.....wanna keep my slicks as corners are where the fun is.  Looks a fantastic piece of engineering. I was goona cut up a standard 1 and do similar.

Hiw much more grip do you get with slicks? I would imagine the contact patch is double what a normal tyre is?

Yes and no tread block squirming about. 888s are awesome. These yoko a005 i got new where the first time i ever used slicks and wow . Like on rails.
Rx8performance.com have been selling these sumps to scca racers for 5 years and have a clever baffle trap door system....its not cheap at £300.00 though. Worth a look on there website at it.

Sump ordered....thing is how do i know if working or otherwise? Last engine i had no oil in catch tank what so ever and 2 stage alarm on oil pressure monitor 10 psi and 30 psi. These never triggered on track always seemed to have 65psi when have a sneaky look off throttle b4 a corner.   On the standard car you have the level switch ? trying to think of a system that would alert me to surge in the corners ? any ideas? This old engine has stood up well with Gavin and me using it but was not on slicks only 888's.
Dry sump? not without its issues either and complicated hassle. 
Both my race engine and this engine dont have the thermal bypass system but oil has always been constant at 80 deg C and pretty quick to warm up....what temp do the bearings get the oil ? i can warm up to that oil temp before full throttle.
any ideas help greatly appreciated...... gotta stay away from v    t    e    c.

All back together finished today.  no blimin MOT though...ran out in June. Weds earliest i can do it then for a blast.

That sounds good. But I would look at an NC mx5 from the scrapers. You can get them for about £800. That's what's happening with all the bits I have left over:) just need to sneak an mx5 into my garage

Mk3 would be nice but i do like a mk1. Plus before 92 no cat test and the cars are lighter. See whats about nearer the time. And hopefully Westory will not need anything........hopefully no more crash bang wallop or kaboum!

The only thing a mk3 needs is more power better handling etc. But you do what you want bud. It will be a very exciting car to drive no matter what
