Just got home....its not solved but defo better. If its just learning the ecu must eeprom inside ??? Almost like it needs reflashing or summit to wipe the bridge learn....maybe hookum but its better no codes.less popping n bagging on lift off....thats all folks from me im on nights for 3 days woohoo.

I ment broke not brake :)

So maybe its learning. Ecu might have same kind of ghost map still somewhere hidden so it thinks its bridge port engine still... Dunno if its possible in those ecus but I have heard that haltech is like that. If there is many maps in memory, its possibility that thesre is so called ghost map and iy confuses ecu sometimes...

Well, Im really cald if its getting better. Even I dont have any hairs left and im bald afterall ;)

Lol....not out of woods yet but miss has moved further up rev range so would suggest learning...back to motorway monday afternoon for some more some more learning. Thankgod its road legal would of been a mare taking to a trackday. My garage is wrecked...car parts and tools everywhere. I hope this is it. Defo need to revisit fuel pump set up though. Could do without nightshift tonight dun in...useless trying have nap. A neighbours jetwashing his patio....

Not got time at the moment to get it dynod. Soon as I get a day off I will get it taken in as they only do dynos on week days

re japi

Hmm, seems like a cant type. Lots of typos in my previous message...:)

Seems you where right Grant....and the big pile of bits and my hair have made no difference.  Needs more learning wait n see time.

You get the big sloppy kiss :P if your right.....you might hope your wrong now..... :))

has anyone dyno'd a bridgport...ive read pages and pages of bickering over on rx8 club and no dyno graph.  :angry5: ::)

Yes, I have to learn about that ecu too. It really confuses me! :) problem is that where I can get info about it...

Jon, I have been wondering that too. Everybody talks about bp renesis but no one shares hard facts and info about dyno sheet... Somewhere I did read that there is no big gain in horses but torque curve and behaviour of bp engine is awesome...

Well from my point of view is that the bridge increases the power band all the way too 9500 rpm rather than it peaking at what ever it peaks at, higher peak HP and higher revs = quicker car. However I haven't driven a standard engine.

If BP didn't give any advantage then why did they bother porting any motor ever??

re japi

Ok, one thing still confuses me: If ecu still learning, why its so running rich? Should it run lean? Or is the air flow to engine, thru bridge ports so much bigger and better that it really messes up ecu setups...

Yes more airflow more fuel. So running rich. Its must be expecting that extra airflow so injecting more fuel and messing up afr. It make sense as wide open throttle goes into open loop and used map tables stored in ecu so these must be overwritting them selfs with the feedback from the engine....so doing resets only resets fuel trim for cruise ? Maybe bs road miles will tell. The bps on the tertiary ports so i need to do some gentle pulls to higher revs when the car is in closed loop in order for the car to build its own map?
I really hope so as there is no engine component left to change....this engine done quite a few miles and if with the new sump etc can handle track abuse without bearing failure will rebuild the bp. Ive pretty much abandoned racing for now just want to get it out on track and prove this set up.
I gotta pull the sump the rtv silicone is weeping oil. Dont seem to like the alloy to cast mating surface it started weeping after a few heat cycles.

As soon as you increase the airflow into any engine whether it porting or turbo it demands more fuel.

If you can see the ecu changing fuel then it's learning, a few miles of gentle throttle increases etc should see it through, once you have confidence it's cleared try a few WOT goes, higher revs every time until about 9,000 rpm. I don't think you need to rev it beyond that as power will drop off before that on a standard motor

does seem to suggest that the 20 brake/room fuse reset procedure does not do alot! i had the battery terminal off for over 24 hrs as well so this data must be permanently written into ecu. Hangin from night shift ill take it out when fresh but off to tidy garage as a frikin mess.
