Hiya,

Was round my mates last night who owns a bike garage n stuff and he was showing me some goodies hes got in..

He was telling me about these fuel octane booster tablet things. I looks like a cylinder with metal discs in it. What I was told it does it that the petrol making process *dunno what it called - cracking?* takes a lot of the additives / octane out of the fuel and this thing, when dropped in a tank puts a lot of it back in making the fuel a lot richer and therefore the power greater etc..

They have apparently let legal use in one of the bike championships?

He\'s gonna bring me round the tech spec sheet for it so I can scan I post up.. dunno if anyones heard, seen or used these before?

Very interesting, what about price, road legalalities and results?  This could be cheaper and more effective than spending a fortune on high octane fuel!

Andyp

I\'ll get that scan up soon, my mate uses it in his bike and swears by it.. sounds interesting :)

I\'ve heard rumours about this kind of thing, didn\'t realise it was available legally though! I was thinking, a few weeks back apparently Optimax was due to be discontinued...but if this is as effective as it sounds perhaps it\'d be possible to run regular unleaded in conjunction with the booster?

I remember something like this years ago.... Oh those cortina (scooby) days. ;)

Metal gause that held about 4 or 5 lead type balls/discs.

Brokett or something, cant remember.

But I do remember that people were putting them in their petrol tanks and not a lot happened.

I would stick with stuff like NF, Cool Blue or the like.

Do all of you guys use octane booster in your cars?

Andyp

I don\'t but I may use this if its any good as you only have to put it in once afaik, can;t be bothered to sit and measure cap full s out every time I fill up hehe

I use RF102 (could be 104 now) supplied by a rally guy from Aberdeen, but when I run out I use that NF formula, roughly a half bottle per tank, sometimes the lot.

Maybe a silly question but does the number next to the fuel name equate to its octane rating?  118 would be awesome!

Gerry M

think so, but you\'d obviously need the engine mapped to suit that rating

Indeed, but that fuel is cheaper than what I am buying right now.

Well spotted!
