boost creep

hi guys,

planing on installing a full 3" decated exhaust turbo-back system in a few weeks...already have the parts here

car is currently running 3" catback and hks induction kit with a remapped oem ecu to .9bar boost (no boostcontroller)

now i am a little worried that with the larger downpipe/midpipe and decat i will most certainly have boost creep ruining the fun

for what i heard porting the wastegate and/or restricting exhaust flow will help to avoid just that. i am planing to go for the restrictive plates in the exhaust system for now, only question is, what size should i have them fabricated in ?

i was thinking 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 inch ? any ideas

You should ideally be using an apexi ecu with a Decat system. Porting the twin turbos wastegate is also a must. That means taking the turbos off and that a complete PITA!

so you are saying that even with the restriction plates i wouldnt get away with the decat ?

Yep 100% first Mod should be PFC, The Spike won\'t hurt you if you have fuel/Map for it only becomes a Problem if you hit Boost Cut on a Stock EMS

You can fit a Downpipe and Decat but idealy you need to map for any boost Spikes, a Good while ago i spoke to Pip at WGT about a simalar thing and he fitted a Restrictor Pill to one of my Vac Lines which really helped with Spike / Creep. A Profec B2 will also help control your Boost.

There is No point in Taking the Restrictions out your Exhaust then Fitting a Restrictor Plate to get rid of Unwanted side effects.

pfc is on the list too, just not that soon...do you know where exactly he has fitted that restrictor pill ?

Urm tbh it was 10+ years ago so you may be better asking him (my memory isn\'t that good but i think it was in the Actuator Pipe but don\'t take that as Gospel)

IMHO, If i was i was you i\'d collect all the bits and fit the lot in one go then get it mapped with a bit more Boost, you will come away with a Big Grin rather than slowly building the power up over time and always being on the edge of your map.
