Yeah wouldn\'t mind a go in that myself. My brother lives in the USA and works with a guy with V8 MX5. Not sure if its an LS lump or what but my bro says it is mental.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

that one has been up on ebay a lot of times now, think the reserve is set to something stupidly high.

Is it me or do we live in an age of putting v8\'s in everything? I\'m not saying it shouldn\'t e done at all, but every feature car now days has a V8 in it. It\'s getting a bit to common, thus starting to bore me a bit. Anyone else with me?

tinker-27

Not me !! Sounds like you haven\'t driven one ,

Brett

You can\'t go wrong with putting big capacity into something light... It might change the character, but its a lot of fun.  Seriously considered putting a Lexus V8 into the Montrose at one stage...

Isnt that exactly the case, it all depends what you want from a car. Huge bhp per tonne thats great for shocking people off the lights etc or something designed for purpose, i.e the Mx5, a great handling car within the limits of the chassis or with a V8 one that be an absolute handful to control.

After having a bbr turbo mx5 with 150hp or so it made me realise that more power would have damn right scary on the road, the car suddenly felt very small and vunerable at high speeds!

B.Martin

I\'m certainly not saying it doesn\'t work a treat or that i don\'t understand why its done, just saying its getting far to common. Everything i see now days has a V8 under the bonnet, its just getting a little tedious.

I haven\'t driven one, perhaps this is why Tinker ;)

There was a feature in banzai magazine about 6months ago about an mx5 v8, it was down in newzealand and competed in the targa rally. The handling was just as good and it dominated its class. The handling was better than other competitors cars and the light weight and huge power made up in the high speed sections placing it in first overall iirc. Ended up with an oil pressure problem which cost them a number of places
