Had a bit of a surprise yesterday when a Thunder Saloon award arrived in the post, the first in the this series .

Despite running around on no revs at Mallory due to oil on the clutch, apparently I finished third in class !

Turns out they had been trying to get it to me for a while and I have thanked them for persevering.

So different from the Track Attack lot where they couldn't even be bothered to send me the Trophy for winning overall last season!!!

Work will start on the car this coming week.
First up is to rebuild my front brake callipers. When I went to get the car out of the garage for its last outing on Friday I found the front brakes were seized on, that explains why I had lost lap time between testing on the Friday and the Racing on the Saturday, the brakes were binding !

BTW 9pm Monday night on Channel 4 we will find out what the stupid handicap race was all about during the Guy Martin show

The binding brakes issue is not limited to old school Mazdas after all, then? Had to do the calipers on mine to get it through the MOT.

I think the clerk of the course may deem this a little unsafe in these days.

I dunno.... They're all snowflakes !!

I fail to see the issue.... I mean..... if the cameraman's bottom provides a bit of downforce it's all good

I was well down on power but still had a great race with my old mate Tony Paxman in his Escort, first raced against Tony probaby forty years ago!.

p.s. shortly I will start bringing updates of the cars upgrades for the coming season

Latest Race  Car update,

Now working in earnest, trying to get the car ready for the first race on March 26/27 Silverstone International.

I desperately need more power to be competitive this season, so the cars going to have the following upgrades.

Cosmo 13B intake
Hemi 85mm Throttle Body
Devils Water Injection kit to get more Boost Sir
Link Wire in Xtreme GX4 ECU

Super rare Intake is proving to be a challenge!.
I bought one that had been butchered with 4 injector ports stuck on the top.
Managed to get it tidied up and actually dummied up and onto the car yesterday and got it to fit without chopping the bulkhead.

Biggest challenge is the fuel rail, because the lower intake was also chopped about, its going to have to have something very special designed and made for a fuel rail out of solid bar to hold the injectors in the correct place.

I always try and operate with the old adage of "no such word as can't" but I am going to need a machinist extraordinaire to make this fuel rail / STEVE, STEVE are you listening 

Lastly, happily  I do have an expert who is coming on board to be part of the team that makes all this happen, who will be a big help for this year's campaign.
This is a someone who many of you know, all will be revealed in good time  .

I must admit with a new loom i can breathe easier everytime you race now lol.
Used to to think about every crimp connection working loose ha ha.
