Quick update on the race car.

5 Speed gear box has now been changed, but its done well living with all the power for three seasons, stuck a new clutch centre plate in while it was out.

After 5 years of add a bit and take away a bit the exhaust system has been totally revamped and now instead of keep dragging on the ground and hitting the trailer the whole  system is right up in the tunnel. Hopefully by making it flatter underneath it will help air flow and make a little more downforce.

I have also fitted a replacement 60mm Tial wastegate after finding the other one had fallen apart inside, which would have been why I had boost issues ! ::)

As you can see the new front is starting to be fitted up and it will have a deeper and different shape splittler this time, in the hope of more front end grip.

Walked into the workshop today and  I was over the moon to find my ol mate Steve had made a new strut brace yesterday complete with the brake stopper I have wanted for ages to get me a firmer brake pedal.

(Just got to get it powder coated now)

New week its up to Pip's in Cheshire for a look at the map and to put a little more boost into the car and hopefully come away with a little more power.

WGT Auto Developments  has now stopped trading but fortunately for me, he will be just mapping a couple of days a week.

I say fortunately because Pip really is the one that has  made the car become a winner and reliable  :great:

Looks great Clive, can't believe how quick you got it back together.

And if that strut brace flexes I will eat my under garments

That's some great progress Clive. Glad you found the cause of your boost issues. I hope the visit to Pip goes well.

Season gone quiet,

You're not missing events due to "injuries" Clive?

As you will see on the next post, still reassembling the car plus some mods.

Next race "should" have been a different series at Brands, so if all goes OK with the mapping, I will be out next at Mallory Sept 28th and  then Donnington October 30th.  I will have a look and see if there is any thing else I can slot into but most series don't like me because I'm rotary !

Good day yesterday progress wise, Exhaust system is completed, rear suspension trays and brake ducts repaired, new style undertray, which hopefully will help down force  is fitted   and we got a long  into the splitter being completed.

Looking under the car you can see the exhaust is tucked right up under the car which will not only stop the damn thing scrapping the track but will hopefully help air flow as well by making the underside "flatter".

Worked out what we are doing for cannards this time ( the car will look quite different at the front)

Steve is going to carry on with the car tomorrow so the nose assembly should be in colour later this week.

Looks good Clive,

Nice NACA ducts, they hand formed or you got a tool?

re japi

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Monty is Steve's dog who is my mate who helps me with the car.

We have the lazy mans pet, with Eddy who is now seventeen, who needs no looking after   ;)
