That chunk hanging off looks like something that could have damaged the sump, oil weeped then eventually enough puked out and set on fire. At a guess anyway

First of all, huge commiserations to Phil  :(----------so upsetting to see this carnage the was the same as I had at Brands but without the fire, detonation led to a broken front plate and then the oil spayed and caught light :c002:.

I know what was said about  the kerb but the oil was from halfway down the long straight not off the corner  :( :(

Phil if you reading this, I know its going to be tough to go forward, but you have built a car that today showed amazing speed to combat that well sorted super quick Subaru

OK, real eventful day for lots of reasons with the Race car, but although I have an issue (more of that later ) I actually completed 10 laps of qualifying plus both races finished :).

Should really have turned 4th place on the grid into something better but I messed up the handling by going in the wrong direction adjusting my EDFC shock settings the wrong way. :( this resulted in two complete off's  plus the wastegate stuck leaving me with no boost for half a lap and then it sorted itself  ???

After dealing with pig understeer and a no grip back end which sent me off the track twice, on the second to last lap I softened the front and  made the back stiffer and the car immediately felt better, turns out I was adjusting in the wrong direction making the car progressively worse until the end of the race .

Looked forward to the next race at the end of the day "but" with so many races and cars with issues almost everywhere on the track there was oil and cement dust from oil on just about every area of the track whist the car felt better the car was a second slower that the best in the previous race due to the slippery track.

If the camera recorded OK you will find I then battled with two front wheel drive cars which were with me the whole race due to the grip they could find on a junk track, got to say that like me they were  racing hard but fair and I played cat and mouse a couple of times letting them go through on parts where they were much quicker knowing I could get them back in other places on the circuit which I did. 5th overall was not where I wanted to be, but the three of us battled the whole race making it very enjoyable, but in turn frustrating for all three of us!

Remember the sticking wastegate, well on the slowing down lap it came back to bite me with clouds of billowing smoke from a blown turbo , but at least the engine and box etc are all fine, just got to start developing the car to find it some decent speed plus find a £700 sponsor to recore the turbo  ;)

Felt quite embarrassing to come away with two class trophy's, a third in the first and a first according to the results in the second, although I was given a second place trophy plus fastest lap in class as the on track results were lowly 8th and 5th positions.

Holy hell,  Phil's car on fire pic is awfull... :/ Happy to hear that he is ok though. But car...?

Well, I know you arent happy with those results and difficulties, but you have to think the bright side. You did finish, and quite good result, and there is no massive damages in the car.
Even though car and setup wasn't the best, she showed that she is quite fast. Right? :)

Umm, is that fast Subaru that orange colored one?

I listened to the commentary and they said you where smoking down the pitlane....that clears that up couldve been worse.
I say blimin good job..finished both races at the pointy end.....this is the start of the development year on the pace.

Well I was partly right about the oil catching fire. Cracked front plate is worse that a knocked sump.

Was also right about Clive's turbo causing a bit of smoke too.

Clive although I can't sponsor you £700 I do have a borgwarner turbo sat around an an SX366 you could borrow. Never been used although it's not a ball bearing turbo so wont spoil as quick,

Down loaded the GoPro but the files are so large I will have to take the card to a friend of mine who will edit and upload over the next few days,

Long term I need a better solution.
