Quote from: boosted;873283quick q...have you still got the oil light lit on the cluster? If you short the level switch out this light will go out.

Must have a go at this, just got to find the relevant wire;)

Thanks Martin, I will be surprised if the new owner can drive the scoob with the same amount of vigor .

With the amazing level of build with the RX-8 what championship are you aiming at , GT ?

Would love to do GT Clive but could not afford afford entries or tyre bill!
I\'m planning on Classic Thunder or perhaps Eurosaloons if they sort their act out.

Took another step in the big jigsaw of going back Racing today.

After never having ever needed to take a "test" to go racing I passed the two part ARDS test which means I can now fill in my entrance forms to go Racing with the RX-8.

I know some of you here have done this but I will say I had a whale of a time with the guys at Brands where after passing the written test, the ARDS driving examiner sort of threw the book out the window for me during the driving part of the test:chat.

I had an instructor in one Will Arif, a driver I already had a huge amount of respect for who is still an active racer after some 700 wins!

After going bananas at me on the first lap out for going way too fast for his liking, he settled down after another couple of laps realising I could actually feel what was going on and that that was just the way I drive, rather than trying to impress !!!!!!

Although you should have a debrief and then be told how you got on and if you passed or failed, he rapidly told me forget the test "I had passed" , "now lets clean up some of your bad habits and make you quicker after I explained nobody had ever shown me how to drive :rollin

And he did-------------he showed me "his" Brands line, bearing in mind this is an ex Formula Ford Festival winner at Brands, one of the hardest event to win in Motor Racing, he showed me what I found the other guys call "Wills line" out of Druids and a much softer line around Paddock both of which keeps the front wheels straighter than I normally would which equates to faster, faster :D.

All in all I had a huge amount of fun and learnt a few tips on going quicker to the extent that I have asked Will to come along to one of the test sessions before finally racing the RX-8 to "help", indeed he may be at Snetterton next week with us.

Bottom line is, today was a huge step to getting the RX-8 out there Racing  :Viking

Fantastic Clive, sounds like you had a really great time there :)

I\'m thinking of doing the ARDS test later this year, just to say I\'ve done it (and hopefully pass :(). Just "something interesting to do", nothing more serious than that. Sounds like I should do it at Brands if its that much fun!

re japi

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Quote from: boosted;873467Well done! Got to remember them flags!

Thanks Guys,

Yes Jon, flags were my biggest worry with the test paper as the damn things now contradict themselves HUGELY!

When you read there are differences in their use from the Blue book to the latest ARDS book and the video, massively confusing if your going to be tested.

I actually left the latest ARDS book with the guys at Brands as they had never seen these latest "amendments"

Biggest change surrounded both the black & white and the black "naughty boy" flags as they now say, if shown you must come back into the pits that lap,

i.e. both flags now tell you to do the same thing whereas before the black & white was a warning of your behaviour.( "naughty boy flag")
