Got the car back from Team HARD, between us we have gone for a conservative suspension set up initially buy they already have some ideas for a more aggressive set up in mind once its out there racing :D.

They had never set up an RX-8 before as its a different animal from the BTCC  or GT cars they normally see but they were very impressed with the stock RX-8 layout with it\'s multi link rear and surprised how adjustable it all is :cool

As you will see in the pictures sticker maker extraordinaire, John French and Andrew (Jinx) designing we now have a fully stickered up car in its final guise (thanks guys).

Car will be at Japfest on the MRC stand but sadly not on track yet as the manifolds, fuel system and wiring are yet to be completed,

Here you go latest pictures, now finaly out of the dark lock-up where the car was assembled

Looking good Clive, coming along now :D are you running an EWP?

Grant Monkhouse

So what does settin up the suspension involve?? As I can see from your pictures it is very low, will this settle even lower once you have done a few laps are is it solid where it sits?

What sort of cost is involved in getting your suspension setup?

gmonsen

Beautiful racecar presentation for Japfest.  Those stickers look great.

re japi

I like those bonnet vents and tailpipe. Nice :)

Yes, what i have heard and see, Rx-8 stock layout is quite amazing. Same thing is in Fb, at that time which is was built, it was amazing.
Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Well done Clive,
The quality and attention to detail is just what we would expect from you.
Pity you won\'t be running at Castle Combe, but I hope I\'m there to have a good look round the RX8.

Yes EWP that is hiding under the intercooler.

Car is sitting on race spings so I wouldn\'t expect to see it settle.

As for suspension for the initial basic set up I would expect it to be around around for £100 at any 4 wheel laser  adjustment

Don\'t forget with mine it\'s easy to adjust as all the suspension bushes, bolts and some of the arms are all new.

The vents are definatly for a reason due to the V-Mount so we get the air up and out of the intercooler.

I have used Racing Beat\'s lightweight RX-8 Race system but as I need to run a cat,  I  have put a 4" 100 cell race cat on the end to meet regulations but also in an effort to meet noise limits especially as it\'s a bridge ported motor which makes it make more noise

(still got to be heat wrapped yet)

Thanks gmonsen and CJR,

Just got to get it not only out there, but hope it\'s somewhere near competitive  "out of the box" and a good base that we can then try to get going quicker, fingers crossed as this car is into the unknown with some things we have Incorporated.

One of the hopes is that people will see the RX-8 as a good basis for a race car and more will consider the Rotary route because of this project.

I like where you\'ve put the catalytic converter.  It\'s an issue that has been perplexing me for mine!

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

So have you started building your race car?

I\'ve pulled out most of the interior but I am waiting for a few new bits to come available in the US before it\'s off to the engine builder then the roll cage/fire safety stuff.

Quote from: clive;856537Thanks for the input G,

I am treating the gear box as "expendable" however over here a few have used these for Drag racing and found they have lived better than an FD box, so we shall see.

By the end of next week I will have some updates on progress with pictures.

Car is sitting in Team Hard\'s workshops ATM waiting for the chassis to be set up and will be helping to develop the suspension once it\'s out racing

Team Hard run the BTCC  cars pictured below along with many other race cars.

Once it comes out it\'s off to get the manifolds  and fuel system finished, then we will be really getting there :Thumbsup!

Onslow-cole of team hard currently battling for 3rd in BTCC at thruxton against J. Plato!! Great racing this weekend

Grant Monkhouse

Actually finished 3rd!! Hopefully these guys will sort you out through your re entry to competitive racing Clive:)
