As soon as the engine is in we can get the manifolds finished and when the pictures go up you will see something different from normal that are being made by an excellent Rotary fabricator who, along with Carl, Racing Beat and Racing Brake is on-board with the project.

It will be interesting to see when its up n running how the car totals up.

One head start was a bartering deal for a good rolling shell, no money changed hands, instead a set of roll bars and an exhaust, I did say budget :chat

I will have a choice of 4.3-4.4 and 4.7

Awesome, I can go to a 5.1 from a 3.9 on my car:) so I guess I win at the diff ratio game:D

I think you gotta stay with Nippon GT series prove them doubters wrong....plus it seems a very logical way to class the cars on power as opposed to engine size, with factors like co-efficient being added to forced induction etc.....i.e 400bhp rx8 against 400 bhp celica ....instead of 2600cc x1.7 co.efficient = 4,420 cc

Keeping cars to similar HP is the easiest way to make competitive racing, however there is a saying. HP sells cars, torqu wins races.

I have noticed a lot of race series in the states limit HP but not torque, this is why a lot of rx7 v8 conversions are loved so much, you can cap HP at 400 and make more torque.

A daft example of this is my brothers trans am, due to smog control on the standard car it only produced 180Hp, but 300lb/ft torque!!

Yep, your right which was all the reasons I looked at the GT class that have in the first place :driving

The saying that torque wins races is a complete myth IMO, big torque is only needed if the car is heavy or towing something, a big fat HP power curve is what needed to win races. Torque is relevant in long endurance races so you can pull big gears at low rpm so your fuel consumption is low so dont need as many fuel stops. But for out and out speed and quick laptimes response\\BHP is king imo

I agree with BlitzBoy on Torque.  It\'s not a race winning quality.  In purely mathematical terms, torque is a measure of turning force, you need force to move a weight, which is work.  Power is the rate at which work is done, the more power you have the faster you can move a given weight.

If torque was all you needed to win races everyone would be stripping JCBs of their motors and sticking them in their drag racers.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!
