Hi Guys

Got MOT booked soon, just wanted to clear something up. My FD is a 1992 which makes it roughly 20 years old does that mean that the MOT will pass with a decat or would i have to put my old cat back on?

Thanks as always :)

Cutoff for emissions for UK cars is 91, although jap imports are ok for a bit longer, its why I chose an FC, with air pump = 0.18% CO, without airpump or any emissions stuff = 2.3%ish so still a pass for me.

If it\'s J reg or earlier it should have a CAT really...

I may be wrong but I don\'t think there\'s a law that a cat has to be fitted but it must pass the emmisions for the cars registration etc.

Just not vey likely to pass the emmisions test designed for when a cat is fitted.

Earlier? I think you mean later.

But either way it\'s somewhere around 1995 for imports.

wolfie1

your co limit on your fd is 3.5% if its an import

All UK Spec FD\'s must have a cat fitted, weather it would pass or not without one. Imports I thought where ok up to August 1995 and after that needed a cat fitted.

Yep guys its an import 1992 :)

Brett

Yeah - I managed to type the opposite :-p

I was told by my MOT station if it is registered before 1st Sept 92 it does not need an emissions test so will not matter if no cat fitted ,, however if it is after 1/9/92 it will need emissions test so you will need your cat on to pass

My documents state imported in 2003 and registered 1992 but no exact date.. this is awkward..

they put your number plate in to the machine and that tells them if it should be a cat or non cat setting, thats what a tester told me

It still needs an emission test as the car isn\'t older than 1974, it just needs a no cat test vs a cat test, so it would be allowed 3.5% rather than 0.5% lol rather handy on a tuned rotary

Your car is an import from 1992 so you should be a non cat test of 3.5% co and 1200Hc\'s and you do not legally need to have a cat fitted.
