^^^ Good question, which coincided with an email from NickD onthe same topic.

IMPORTANT: Can everyone who has not yet paid please do so by noon Friday this week (23rd). That way I can GUARANTEE people a place, with an extra discount if an MRC member. For anyone not able to pay up by the deadline there MAY be places still available later but I can offer no guarantee as I will have to release the remainder of our "reserved" block of 20 places by the weekend.  

Payment can be made via THIS LINK; note the option on this page to pay £149 if you are a Full (paid up) MRC Club Member, or £169 if a guest (non paid up member).

After noon on Friday people will have to book direct via the Mazdaontrack website HERE and pay the full price, which is now £189.

You will note the price has gone up from the original £169. It is becoming accepted practice now to offer a discount to early bookings and when places fill up the last few places are sold at a higher cost.

So, people who book before Friday noon are getting a good discount over "Joe Public" who would currently have to pay £189 to book a place direct.

NickD has just posted this up onthe RX8OC thread;

"Dear All,

It is with sincere apologies that I need to inform the members intending to come on this day that the places are no longer available to us and therefore we are unable to honour any of the booked places. Money has been returned to the RX-8 OC.
I am personally very unhappy to have to do this. Communication and vat invoicing issues between Mazda on Track and the operator of the day, Open Track, has resulted in these places been sold directly by the operator to their customers. This situation occurred very rapidly in the latter part of last week while I was working at circuits and so out of email contact and thus unaware of the developing situation.

I was informed by text on Saturday morning that the places had been resold. Since then I have tried to work with the operator and MSV, the circuit owners, to allow additional places to run on the day, however despite the best efforts and several calls to MSV they are unwilling to extend the capacity beyond the now full day to allow this to happen and therefore I can not provide the original places.

I want to again apologise to all club members who I know will have been looking forward to this day and will have gone to particular effort to attend. If I can be of any assistance in dealing with any issues arising from this please let me know and I will do my best to help.

NickD phoned me earlier today to give the above news. To say I\'m "gutted" to hear this, especially so close to the event date, is an understatement of the highest proportion.

Although NickD has already done this, I have also spent well over an hour on phonecalls to David Woodall at Opentrack (who will be running the day), plus Jason and then Ian Berry at Motorsportvision (who hires out the many UK tracks, inc Oulton). Having spoken to these people to I can see no way of resurrecting the situation as all 80 places have been sold and there is a "hard wall" at the 80 limit which MSV are unable/unwilling to breach to include us. Ian has spoken to me at length about this limit and why they impose it. Had there been 3 or 4 extra places to accommodate I think we\'d have been OK, but 13 is impossible.

I will make arrangements for Lisa to return payments directly to source. We may need to get in touch with people in some cases to confirm where the money is to be sent, if unclear.

Obviously, to avoid any hotel cancellation fees, I urge anyone with a hotel booking to contact the hotel asap. I shall be doing this next.

Well, I never thought that Friday 13th would turn out to be unlucky in this way  My apologies to everyone who was looking forward to this day. I\'m so disappointed myself, so I know how you must all be feeling. I will be seriously reviewing the process for booking future trackdays to avoid any repetition.

Wow, this is a shock !! and without stating the obvious I too am \'gutted\'. I have been working feverously to have the RX ready for the 13th.

I\'m obviously interested in any other track days we can set up.

Oof. I\'ve been pushing my gearbox rebuild through to be able to attend in time too. Ah well, let\'s hope it rains/snows so we don\'t feel we\'ve missed out too much eh!

Was really looking forward to seeing you chaps again too, it\'s been years since I\'ve seen Clive and I enjoyed meeting some of you at Blyton last year for the first time.

Maybe nick needs to think about who he books these days with, talk about biting off the hand who feeds you. Real sorry for Mazda on Track, Open Track want a good kicking.
