don\'t get me started on the DVLA, we had a V5 reg document come to us in a name we never heard of and a vehicle we\'d never seen, called up the DVLA to make them aware, absolutely no interest whatsoever, I think I would\'ve been more satisfies if they\'d just told me to f*** off.

These new laws on tax/insurance/MOT all having to be on are confusing the hell out of me too... what\'s the deal? if you have MOT you have to have tax and insurance too?

Nah , if the car is TAXED it HAS to be INSURED

Its simple in theory .. but very silly

i reckon its to stop people insuring their car , taxing it and then cancelling the insurance

Ok, but if someone\'s willing to drive around with no insurance they wouldn\'t bother with tax either?

I got a fine as 1 of my motors did not show up on the MID database! despite being insured since 2008, when i checked my others half where half weren\'t ......spoke with insurers all sorted but trying to get through to right dvla department a complete knightmare!

......how to speak to a person quickly at DVLA press 4444 ! missing out all the recorded messages!

Then i had a Ford KA in CO OP for sale that i drove there insured on my trade policy from MOT station that was clamped for having no tax as a Supermarket carpark is now classed as public highway! £340 to sort that out!

There sneaky and dish out fines when a simple letter would suffice!

I am all for impounding and crushing cars that the owners blatantly drive on the roads with no license, no mot no tax but the honest man trying to earn a few quid and have a 2nd car on his driveway to be fined for no tax/no insured cause its winter is crazy.

my pennies worth....you cant beat em ! but you could always send them a turd in the post!!!!

Isnt this is the issue at hand, the people that do any of the above. As said before they dont care and never will, their cars are probably worth sweet fa and what they have save in insurance and tax means they can afford to have it scraped. It is as you say, the law abiding citizen who suffers with confusing systems and endless amounts of paperwork to make sure we comply!

Road tax - scrap it and take the money from fuel duty, even if it goes up a bit

Insurance - a scheme of sorts that means everyone who drives on the road is insured 3rd party

then there is no paperwork, no cost, less staff, less over heads, no confusion and its a fair system for all and the conscious arent once again subsidising the ones who dont care!

I agree Jet Pilot.... fuel duty the way to go the more mileage you do the more you pay simples ! ......this country\'s system is flawed! Stick a round perforated disc in your window! The new tax classes are daft take the 56 plate rx8 or 3/6 MPS when these car are 15 years old nobody\'s gonna want to tax a car at £450 a year they\'ll be free to collector....
Another thing that grates is you get a reminder for tax but not for MOT so if your not car minded you drive about in potentially an unsafe car....I:flamed guess you get reminded as you owe them money!
