hi folks, i\'m Ryan from Dundee, just doing a bit of research into rx7\'s, i used to own an rx8 but felt it just completely lacked what i wanted, having come from a long line of turbo cars, anyway, been into mr2 turbos the last few years and know them inside out, the later revision (rev3-5) are the ones to go for, but...which rx7?? is there different models?? what\'s the best one to go for? is there a difference in trim/power etc...hopefully gonna have one by the summer :yes

anyway, all infor is greatly appreciated :WaveBye

turbo boy

buy a dead fd then drop a v8 in it:3gears-lh

I have an FC due to:

The car has a larger engine bay for larger turbos/engine
Single turbo as standard (best upgrade for an FD is a single turbo)
OEM drivetrain is very strong
Engine can easily be simplified
Parts are pretty cheap due to used market/cult status
The car has larger popups than an FD
Classic car insurance
Less strict emissions (don\'t need a cat) meaning easier to highly tune
Cheaper to buy

the 99 spec fd is the only one I wanted when I got mine

This is the car that made me want to get an RX7:

whoops, sorry guys, what i meant was, is there different options of the 3rd gen, like, different powered versions etc... like the 192 and the 231 with the rx8??

@wolfie1, yeah i\'m only 60 miles from you matey :D

almeida1234

Indeed matey there are few different models
Here is a few
Uk spec fd are rare but mostly full of rust( no offence to anyone who own one)
Imports are the way to go
Spec wise
93-99 standard twin turbo 240 bhp type r, type RB, type rs
99-02 standard twin turbo 260-280 type rs, type rz and sprit r
Type rs being the 280 model only few in uk and I own one and rarest of all sprit r I think there only 3 in the country

Also look to get one that has had a recent rebuild or had a compression test done. Worthwhile speaking with some of the rotary tuners too as they may know of good cars coming up for sale.

hmmmm, looking at the price range it\'s most likely gonna be a 93-99 one then :) what\'s the difference between the type R, type RB anf type RS?? i\'m assuming it\'s just trim, yeah i\'m only gonna go for one with a rebuild, i was on jimmys-rx7.co.uk, he seems to sell ones with rebuild and warranty, so i\'m deffo gonna see if one comes up on there, there does seem to be an awful lot with "recent rebuilds" how can i tell if these are genuine? i mean, it can\'t be hard to fake a receipt :(

I wasnt worried about spec when I got mine. I ended up with a type rb completely standard. I found when looking that model differences didn\'t make much difference as most are modified and not much like there original factory spec. Best bet is just to treat each one you look at as a individual and not be put off by model. My type rb is still plenty quick enough that im not disappointed in the slightest I didn\'t find a higher spec. The only thing I wanted but couldn\'t find was the sunroof.
