Hey guys,

In the market for my first RX7 and feeling a little overwhelmed.

I\'ve got quotes from my insurance company and I cant really afford to insure an import.

Is there anywhere best to find a UK model?

Any advice is much appreciated :)

I don\'t know why an import would cost any more. Only advantage with a import is that usually only taxing a 1.3 which is way better. I spent double what I wanted too on a car but it was well worth it. Never by cheap for the sake of it.

My current insurer is Admiral so i want to stay with them till the end of the term before switching to a specialist maybe adrian flux. Anyone know of insurers good for imports?

I had a civic and was with flux for 3 years and for those years they where good as cheaper than anywhere else. then on the 4th same car not only did the price go up but they where more than anywhere else and wouldnt price match, I thought was a bit of a crap way to treat your long term customers that want to stay with them. Then I got a rx7 and they where like 2.2k, elephant ended up doing it for less than flux wanted to do my civic.  Only company I would never touch even if they where free would be Hastings direct.

I\'m under 25, my only saving grace is my 4 years NCB so far. this will be 5 years if I stay with Admiral till May hence my hesitancy to switch insurers for the sake of 6 months.

Going to give them a call today and see what they can do with an Import spec. I\'ll keep you all updated if I am triumphan over "the man" :)

UK models have always been easier and cheaper to insure than imports.

Your chances of finding a UK model are not particularly good, only 120 were officially brought into the country by Mazda and that number is far outweighed by the number of Japanese imports and that\'s before you start thinking about how many of those 120 are still in existence.

I phoned Admiral today and got a much better quote over the phone. Import is on the cards.

For the year it worked out to 1000, and I\'m currently paying 840 for my Mito (now selling for an RX7).

Imports on the cards :)
