So i\'m sure you have seen my posts on here a fair amount over the last few months but this is possibly the most important and urgent one!?

I really need help to start my rebuilt fd3s. I have managed to turn it over with no joy and now having tried a brand new battery a week later it is barely trying to turn it over!

I need to test the spark plugs or try and deflood the engine but now everytime i try and turn it over a massive amount of current is melting the plastic around the clutch line under the boost controller?!whaat??

Any advise or if anyone wants to come and help would be massively appreciated and fantastic.

thanks and sorry to be a pest to the guru\'s amoungst you.

Have you checked all the earths in case its trying to earth via something its not ment to, the starter motor will use quite a few amps!

clive

Sorry to hear your having problems :o

It sounds like this engine has built too "tight" as this will heat the cable as you describe and stop the engine spinning quickly

Can you turn the engine over by hand from the front pulley with the plugs out, once you know this engine is loose then you can investigate other possibility\'s .
All the best Clive

well i have checked the earth\'s and everything seems fine. the tight build seems reasonable!

It turned over fine and smoothly the first few times and i could turn it over easily when it was out and in.

Could it be the tension of the belts at all?

snyperboi

well haven\'t measured that because i have been trying to find the measurements i need but it doesn\'t feel too tight but hey i\'m probably miles too tight!

What should i be looking for?

bumpstart

if it is melting the braid on the clutch line, you have left off the heavy earth from motor to body , pure and simple

snyperboi

i will recheck the earths around the engine and starter and see if i can loosen and turn the engine by hand.fingers crossed!

right i have turned the engine by hand and also by the key with the spark plugs out. it is still struggling to turn with the plugs in and the clutch line is still getting super hot!

I have checked all the earth cables and they seem all in and fine but i\'m pretty sure the engine still isn\'t earthed.

Can anyone help me further?like anything that is a common problem or just anything?

If anyone is around salisbury area that could give me a hand i would really appreciate a second opinion?
