That depends on your setup, if you\'re running something like E-Manage, set a map for a lean idle rather than a rich one, if you\'re not running something you can map yourself, well, then I don\'t have a clue, do you have an mixture adjust screw like the FC\'s do that you can fiddle your idle with and get it leaner?

What was the oil temp on the read out? The garage has to bring the car up to operating temperature before they can start the test otherwise the cat won\'t be working correctly.

adarmo

What Yr ?

Import ?

Std with Air pump ?

fd3szhi

yr 95 standard car with cat n air pump im thinking is it the lambda sensor that is at fault shall i try a bottle of cattaclean ?

adarmo

Come on try harder there were only 3 questions !

Import ?

If YES - EXACTLY when in 95 was it manufactured.

fd3szhi

Yep its a import i think it sep 95 but nt totaly sure tho

adarmo

If it\'s late 95 then you might be screwed.

If its early 95 (Pre Aug IIRC) then it only has to pass a NON CAT test.

They should Cat test it - it fails.

They then input its make and model and have to find an EXACT match - there isn\'t data for an IMPORTED one.

Then it asks was it registered / first used before Aug 95 if Yes - NON CAT Test.

:D

Mine is Decat and passed yesterday.

fd3szhi

Will a bottle of cattaclean help?

adarmo

If its old enough you\'d pass as it stands
pre                cat limits of CO 3.5%, HC 200ppm.

fd3szhi

But it not old enough tho so what shall i do?

Couple of options...

1) Fill her up with ethanol - reduces emissions apparently as it burns cleaner than petrol

2) If you have a PFC, use the commander to adjust the PIM voltages <1000rpm (there\'s a guide on here somewhere). This cuts injector duty and hey presto - you pass!

3) Find an erm, \'friendly\' MOT place with an old Mondeo round the corner, which if you squint a bit, looks , erm, just like an RX7...
