What did people think?

I would have changed the setlist to add a few other songs but in general a very decent performance :Thumbsup!

i like a lot of the u2 songs but i wouldnt exactley call it a memorable headliner show was more like a group booked for 2 in the afternoon  :D

I\'m more upset by the idea of Beyonce at Glastonbury, tbh. U2 at least used to have something to say, although its so long ago everyone would be forgiven for not remembering it. When did it become acceptable for music industry puppets with no discernible talent or independent thought to be headlining at Glastonbury?

Even Michael Eavis has now said that he hopes the recession actually cuts down on the popularity of Glastonbury because it\'s become too big, too corporate and too far removed from what he wanted it to be all along. Although you have to wonder why he lets that heppn, if that\'s the case....

What\'s the difference between Bono and Jesus?

Jesus doesn\'t walk around Dublin telling everyone he\'s Bono.

Lol, I\'m not sure whether Jesus could fit his entire head up his own arse, either

its always amusing when someone is successful everyone suddenly begins to dislike them :Giggle

I find it funny that someone like Liam Gallagher is seen as uber cool and can do no wrong whereas u2 still perform restlessly and try to push the boundaries of stage performances but are slated ?????????

As for Beyounce? well Glasto is a celebration of music and as such ok Beyounce is popular and people might wanna see her? To me the likes of Coldplay make the same music with dreary performances and dreary lyrics - they are even now being called the glasto house band

The only people that think Liam is uber cool is, most likely himself primarily and the ri-tards that have the misconception that him and is mono brow brother are Beatle esq!

I have never been to Glasto and will most likely never go and for that matter, any festival. However, it does seem to me that music festivals, glasto, isle of wight etc etc are enjoying a renaissance and 50% of the attendees are there to say "they have been" rather than past years attendees who were the die hard music lovers who went for the bands not "the experience".

True for Glastonbury as tickets go on sale before the headlining bands are even confirmed :Hammer

Will watch Coldplay tonight and then see what Beyounce is wearing, i mean singing :Laugh

Also forgot to add, watched the Morrisey set and it was really dire, never really heard much of his stuff so took the time to watch.

None of the songs were any good at all sadly

I\'m going to show my age here as usual..... I went to the first Glastonbury back in 1970.
It cost a quid to get in and they even had free soup kitchens to feed us. I helped build the first pyramid stage (there was only one then ) and eventually stayed down there for three weeks.
Can\'t remember much of it though, due to being \'chemically altered\' during much of it :Giggle
Headliners were T rex and Melanie.

I thought U2 were pretty dire, never seen such a lack of soul and emotion from a band supposedly honoured to be up there you just as well have stuck a dukebox on stage.

And thats before we get onto the rain on Bono\'s shades.

As a contrast, take Elbow - they self funded their last album, have no ego, seem like genuinely great blokes and the set they played was just amazing-they had the crowd in the palms of their hands.

I can take it or leave it with Coldplay, but there is no denying they put on an impressive show.

Dont forget that U2 are in the middle of a 2 year tour and flew in the day before - performed - then flew straight back out again, emotion? did you not hear one ????

Everyone has different tastes, turned on for Elbow and turned back off 2mins later as sounded damp. Morrisey for me was terrible as he dares to be critical of others yet his performance was lack-luster and he was clearly going through the motions

U2 have made some good tunes and their very successful at what they do, although Bono\'s rhetoric is boring, you sometimes get the impression that the Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen are thinking "Oh Christ he\'s got another cause, let\'s just play \'Where the streets have no name\' and shut him up!".

I have never understood the popularity of Coldplay, I think Chris Martin is a malodorous runt whose music is the worse form of melodic onanism.  Can\'t stand Morrisey\'s whining, he\'s got nothing to whine about so he should just shut up.  Beyonce is an odd choice for Glastonbury but then popular music is a broad church and she\'s easy on the eye and has some funk about her so why not perform at Glastonbury.
