Today me and a mate did some little jobs on my car, just for something to do! It\'s been a lovely relaxing day...!

I have:
Cleaned the front bumper up a bit
Re-tightened both alternator belts (really need replacements though, still squealing :( )
Removed the centre section bolts on the roof so now I can have a targa roof :D (yay, it looks great!)
Rewired my left front indicator so it works again
Back-to-blacked some of my trim
Sprayed my wiper arms black again, so they look GOOD
Fitted my special Lowlife \'original member only\' (1 of 4!) sticker

I was also going to change the broken drivers door handle for my replacement one that I have from Pete. Unfortunately neither of us have the key for the replacement handles lock! I\'ve looked and cannot work out how to remove the barrel! We\'ve tried levering and pulling and just don\'t get it!
The posted photo shows the barrel of the new handle (I\'m going to work out how to remove this, and succeed before removing the handle that\'s on the car!)

Also, what do people think of the car WITH the side lights section cut out vs not cut out? And with the wheel trims on the front, vs no wheel trims? If I cut them out on the new bumper it\'ll be MUCH neater.

(point of note - the wheel trims are the stock Dodge Calibre ones that are ziptied onto the 17" banded steels I have, the photo of the car without them fitted is when the car was running Mitsubishi Starion wheels, which are 16" instead) The last photo is of the car with the cutouts and 17" banded steels, but NOT the wheel trims! And yes, my bonnet is foobarred from rear ending a Saab 9-3 a while back :( Will be sorted very soon though!

wow... that looks great, got to tint my front indicator sidelight housings now I think... and definitely move the numberplate... good looking car dude, any more pics of the targa conversion?

Thanks mate, as I said - they\'re easy to do! I\'ll get some pics of the targa top tomorrow - but my roof is SHAGGED, so won\'t look as good as it should!

My numberplate sits in my windscreen, outside of the MOT nothing has been said to me!

The photo that is missing is this, please let me know what you think of the wheel trims? They\'re a little odd, but I thought looked interesting!

Skifledanabit

ooh... no... the mad max stylee deep dish black rims look the dogs danglies, my opinion is lose the trim... but, its your choice at the end of the day

Thanks mate! Any opinions on the light cutouts? Anyone know how to remove the lock barrel on the door handle?

Here she is as she sits right now - the bumper is FAR better aligned than the black one was post-damage, the scuttle etc is straight again too. What a pity it\'s scuffed and red huh? (freebie from DtheB though, so I\'m still happy!) :p It\'s also held on with 2 zipties and 2 bolts and still fits almost perfectly!

Rear wheels are because I can\'t afford the tyres for the other steelies, one of which has worn through the sidewall, hence not being fitted :( Will be done again soon though.

Replacement bonnet soon though! And here she is with the targa. Makes me think of the first F&F film with the MkIV Supra Aerotop :p

The rear wheels there are nice, it doesnt matter that they don\'t match the fronts, I was rolling with bronze ray gram lights on the back with standard mazdaspeed 747\'s on the front, maybe you should see what the steelies look like on the back with the alloys on the front... The red bumper makes it even more mad max tbh lol, but resprayed and it will look sweet, real street warrior style.

Reminds me a lot of this...

Thanks, it\'s great to get continued support, even when I think the car is suffering!

The problem with the rear wheels is that my arches are flared to fit 17" 9.5J Et0 wheels with 225/45\'s stretched on, but have 8.5J Et38 or so 16" wheels with balloony 225/50\'s on! The front and rear arches and ride height are set up to work pretty much so I get the best look, so changing stuff doesn\'t do it any favours! That\'s why the panasports are a temp solution, and why they can\'t run on the front (balloony tyres).

That thing looks bad-ass! Just needs to be a little lower, and with slightly wider wheels! I\'d like 15-20mm wider (stock look) front wings personally.

Anyone got any advice regarding the door lock? It\'s what I actually started the thread for, the rest was just a casual update!

(btw, I discovered that spray-on back to black seems to work on the roof - it\'s darker, oilier, and might well prolong the life of the roof - seems a great idea on a stock \'vert roof IMO)

PDale

Can\'t see all of the lock barrel in the pic but most are held in place with a clip that slides in place. Once removed from behind, the lock will fall out the front of the handle.

Skifledanabit

If what PDale said doesn\'t work, it could be the same as the ignition barrel, where you need to have the key in there and turned so the barrel comes out, but that wouldn\'t be much good to you, lol
