Ok, so what would peolple say is realisticly possible without upgrading the turbo\'s?

So we are talking ecu, fuel system, intercooler etc...

davefrith

without upgrading the engine and turbos you mean

Yep? The twin T28 kit is individual exhaust manifold runner per rotor to each turbo, and individual dump pipes to a collector just before the cat. Gary has a different exhaust that meets then sepeartes again into 2 back boxes.

Essentially the same set up...

Im definately going to ditch the stock turbo\'s, but im not sure what for yet.

Does anyone know if the 2 T28\'s kit on Rx7store.net comes with everything to fit?  The kits about $5000 and i would hope for this you get everything to get it working (barring intercooler etc...).

Also, does anyone know what a Greddy TD06 is capable of producing?

If you are looking at Ebay be VERY careful what turbo kits you buy

Turbo kits seem to be the most popluar scam item at the moment

Minty, i have had a lot of converstions with Ross @ Dragon about singles, running the stock turbo\'s in parrallel etc etc. As i ultimately want to go the single route or something non stock anyway. Even with buying second hand gear it would be cheaper to buy one already done, as everyone has said, intercooler, fuelling, ecu etc etc. You will probably need to add the price of the turbo kit agin to your total costs, if you do it properly that is. I am no expert on this but have found the forum and Dragon to be a wealth of information and knowledge to my advantage. Give Ross a call or one of the other tuners and they will help you out with costs etc, just as an example after a chat with Ross the other day, a second hand turbo kit, intercooler etc etc would be around £5k or so fitted. I know you probably want to make your own build that is unique to you but cars like Ants single and others advertised make sense money wise imho and then put your own touch\'s to the interior or exterior as you have done with your present car.

Ok, i understand your points, and before this thread goes on and on about the benifits and disadvantages of twin/single etc... i have one final question.

What do people think of the Blitz KKK kits?  Is anyone running one, or know of anyone who is?

Thanks all.

jetpilot

Hi Minty, i dont know of anyone running one of those but if you are buying from the states be sure the kit fits rhd, the manifold is the problem, they obviously do not have the steering coloumn on the turbo side over there.

Minty,  im running Blitz KKK kit.  As far as driving and performance is concern, im more then happy with it.   All the other setup is uprated as well.

I really dont know much technical stuff but this  single turbo car is allot diff then a twin one  i had.  No problems so far(touch wood) eating M3, scooby and carrera\'s any time:D :D  even with running on almost flywheel, got new 1 on the way.

cheers

not sure how the porting etc affects overall bhp but my mods at the moment are still not at their potential and i\'m confident of running 350 soon

Tuning, porting and exhaust a/r housing all play a big part on lag.
I have a to4r with small exhaust a/r housing. I have very little lag. My car boosts low down literally like a twin turbo but doesn\'t run out of puff up top either. Best of both worlds so to speak.
368 rwhp semi tuned.

Sorry didn\'t see your thread till now mate,

Yes i\'m running a single turbo, currently a T78 these do produce a lot of power and if you are not careful alot of trouble with handling as its a huge kick when it comes in.

Day to day running it at low boost of 0.62 at which it makes 342bhp (adequate), when on high boost it makes 460bhp - but does require a remap after which i\'m hoping for close to 500bhp.

Made the 342bhp running at 0.7PSI of boost at hubs not rolling road so more accurate (apparantly) will be going on sat to have a dyno run at high boost so we will know exactly whats being produced and how the fueling is.

On driving when in high boost the car will wheel spin in 1/ 2/ 3 gears so in the wet NO chance, even in the dry its all over the place.

Give Ross a ring at Dragon performance as my car is from there, and Ross is currently running a T88.

Accuracy of rollers over hub dyno is a big debate :)

Hub dyno gives higher readings tho, in the case of Dyno Dyanimcs v Dynapak at least. A good 5-7% or so from the results of a few cars that have done \'back to back\' runs on the 2 setups.

Where r u going on the dyno Gurj? the car is being mapped there rather than just doing power run(s)?

Finally, can we have a sweep stake on what power the car makes after all this time? :rollin
