i ask because i want to check my engine compression  but dont have the fancy kit
but i have a stranded piston compression tester will it work
or can i make use of it some how

There will be a valve for "backpressure", don\'t know what it is called in English...
You need to take that away!
You will also need some assistant doing the test, because you can only se every combustion pulse for each chamber for a short while.
But it will still give you an idea about you engines compression...

Lars is right, you need a tester with a bypass valve so the needle bounces then you gotta watch and see how even the three bounces are per cycle. Bit crude but it gives you and idea.

And don\'t use a tester where the pick-up can poke into the rotor housing to touch the tip seals.

Most low cost testers would do!
But sucking blowing in the pipe/tube when it is loose should be without restriction. The one way valve will be close to the gauge...
Mazda garageges should have prober ones for rotarys, maby you could lend one?? To bye them is to expensive.

ive just made a plastic washer to sit in the groove(the pipe already has restricted holes to prevent any thing going back down into the chamber)  holding the 1 way valve open
check it with a bike pump lol its alive muhaaaaaa gonna use it tomara

keeping the release valve pushed in is not taking a reading my tester the valve does not let any pressure build up while pressed may be different to yours just to let you guys no i got bord yesterday and used my compression tester as a fuel pressure tester lol it works awesome just need to clean it out after
