I know RX7\'s dont like heat, and wanted to get recommendations from people who have changed bits relating to cooling, and get an idea of what I should approach as a matter of course.

I have spoken to TW Whites, who are servicing my car this Thursday, and they are happy to fit any bits I give them.
Two approaches I can take really.
Let TW Whites have a look initially to see if the rad is leaking, or if its a pipe, AST bottle etc, then let them recommend which bits I need, and then book it in with them again to have them fitted (in the meantime trying to keep the coolant full, running a big risk of overheating etc)
or
Buy an uprated rad and aluminium AST tank from WGT now, because its the sensible thing to do anyway, and to be honest, if it needs a rebuild or anything, Id want these uprated anyway.

Means the total bill for service, parts, and fitting will be close to
£1000, but it also means I get a fully serviced car with better cooling.
Would this mean Id have an effective cooling system? as I want to be able to shut the car off after a run, confident that its not got any heating probs, or be stuck in traffic without worrying my cooling system isnt up to the job.

Anything else that I should be changing as a matter of course?

I know the second approach is more a "throw money at it" approach, but reliability is my main concern at the moment, and if these are things that should really be changed on an early RX, then I will bite the bullet and do them.

Hi Graham,
Have you actuallyu opened the bonnet and looked to see where the leak is coming from ?
Also In my opinion the cooling system is not really a neccesary upgrade (in my opinion) in this country as it never really gets hot enough. The AST yes that would be a good idea to do that but I don\'t really see why a radiator in this climate should need upgraded yet there is nothing wrong with doing so either. It would seem the best way to have the car running cooler is to have a vented bonnet and aftermarket frontend with a bigger opening. Also don\'t mean to sound all boring and sensible but you are taking a big risk driving your car as it is right now. If a dealer you sold the car, and a few weeks later found out your engine had gone pop, He would be reluctant to honour warranty on the basis that you sprung a leak, and instead of informing the dealer from whom you purchased the car you continued to drive it for approx two weeks with the coolant loss, and the coolant warning sensor going etc.
My point is who is to say that the engine going pop, or needing a rebuild if it does (hopefully not) was not caused by the customer driving it around in that condition for two weeks rather than contacting the dealer who would of honoured his warranty by sorting out the leak had he been contacted straight away.
Hope all goes well though Bud.

I know its a risk driving it like this, but Im being as careful as poss, and to be honest, have no alternative but to drive it, at least on thursday ill know what needs doing.

Im going to jack the car up tonight, ive had as good a look as poss, so tonight going to get it on a trolley jack and try spot what wrong.

Miguel can provide a different rad if needs be, so wont bother with an uprated one then.

I dont want to speak badly of anyone, but honestly, I would not want to leave my car with Motormall again, so am going to get TW\'s to check it out, then approach Motoplan Warrranties themselves should it require work that should be under warranty.
