It\'s got a PWR chargecooler but it belongs to Antnicuk\'s cousin or brother, he knows all about it.
RX8 High Power, Cusco Coilovers, Dotz wheels and flames. Shoe Size 12

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

that is what\'s known as a charge cooler matey.... basicaly a water coold air cooler! the only disadvantage to this system is you will have another rad at the front to cool the liquid in the charge cooler & a pump to flow the fluid around the system!

other problem with  chargecoolers. well prob i had with one on an escort rsturbo many moons ago is after a long duration in the summer the charged water temp gets quite high and dont really cool much.
if i had 8 hour to cut down a tree. i`d spend 6 sharpening the axe

antnicuk

yep,  its my cousins and as they say above, its got a charge cooler.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

The car sounds fantastic, how does she drive? I seem to developed an unhealthy lust for 20b\'s lately :Ladys-man

Thanks for the info guy\'s I have seen charge coolers before but not looking like that!
Anyway.. Anymore info on the car? Was it a DIy conversion? iIs there a build thread for it?

yes,  its a DIY build from scratch. Everything is custom made by my cousin with a little help from me.  No build thread im afraid.  She made 500 bhp at the rear wheels at 0.9 bar with a perfect flat torque curve from about 3500 rpm making the car feel so light.  I would describe it as being between a V8 and a 13b.  It still revs like a rotary but has some grunt off boost.  The turbo is a smallish single for a 20B.

She has been a money pit and has had some gremlins but mainly because we had oil issues and the fact that it was super charged initially.

You\'ve done a great job there especially for a DIY set up!

Antnicuk, I would love to know more as I am starting my own similar build next year! Dam.. The cat is out of the bag! I have my donor car, running engine, ecu and I think all the running gear in a couple of options! Clearly a fair bit to fabricate which I will be doing myself too! Will rebuild the engine once I have it in and setup.

Funny you mentioned supercharger. I was only having this discussion on Sunday as to whether or not that had been done or could be done successfully? The fact you are back on a tubro I guess it didn\'t work out too well? What turbo did you end up goin with?? size etc? Does it run out of puff hi up? Also what injectors did you go for? I stil need to find a turbo, fuel pump and injectors although I have a fair idea what way I will go but always good to get other opinions/ideas!

Good power on mild boost by the way.. Not fancying pushing the boost up some more? Bet it is an animal in the wet if my 13B is anything to go by! What V8\'s you driven?! I guess the have more low down grunt rather than more power?

Is your cousin not on here by the way?

Did you buy the FC 20B from Tim that was on Ebay?   Good luck with the project,  keep us posted,   i hope you are wealthy!

The turbo is a bit of hybrid thats changed spec over time but its big,  it has a T6 footprint but im not sure what the wheel sizes are, the exhaust a/r 0.96 but on a big turbine wheel.  We dont think it will produce much more power or boost than it is but never really tried as its a road car and the gremlins knocked our confidence in the car a little,  plus it destroyed a brand new FD gearbox with road use in less than a 1000 miles and even the twin plate clutch couldnt take the torque.

The injectors are 6 1000cc.

The supercharger did work but we had oiling issues and at the time we thought it may be because of the strain on the front pulley so went turbo route. It turned out it wasnt the supercharger at all but you live and learn.

The power was very linear which meant traction was pretty good for the power,  much better than the 13b with equivalent power.

V8\'s we have are mainly BMW and Merc.

My cousin is on here but doesn\'t post much.

What route would you now take to overcome the gearbox and clutch issues? Sounds damn expensive to keep mashing them even before you need an oil change :2Confused
I really fancied a project like this but it looks to be a bit technical / expensive so i\'ll maybe try something else now!

leeroy_25

Thanks for the info Antnicuk.

Yes I did get the car off Tim! Running sweet enough but will rebuild it as it\'s been sat for so long it\'s not worth the risk. Bound to blow a seal or something and I am sure the plates will have some corrosion and need a skim. Hopefully all salvagable though.
I wouldn\'t say I am rich no! So hopefully it goes more to plan! I am hoping I have covered the main expense with the Engine ECU and Car. I have 2 FD boxes and a turboII box I might go for. A twin plate clutch for each option. The main other costs would be the fabbing but as I aim to do it all myself then I can hopefully keep that down. Hope I do not sart popping boxes though! Did you guy\'s rebuild your own engine or get it done elsewhere?

I plan to do that myself as well otherwise again it\'s quite a big expense. I do not envisage the project being complete in 2011!

It\'s better to get a range of views.

There are many factors to put into play, such as the way the car is used, ie hard launches will obviously put strain on boxes and clutches.

Also the way a clutch is put in can have a big factor to whether it functions correctly.

This is easily the best project you can do.
I wish I could.

V8s sound boring, lazy and just plain awful when put in a rex

Haa haaa!!

Having heard the 20B fire up I think sort of a 26B it is the best sounding engine out there! I am quite a sucker for a nice straight 6 or meaty V8 too! But compared to this 20B wins! A real monster V8 does sound good though! like this for instance!

Ohhh , I think I have just thought of a new project.. maybe for 2013!  I already have another planned for wen I complete the 20B!
I do fancy doing a V8 FD. But it would be for my dad really.. Might shelve that idea and make room for a different option! Too many projects to try and do and too little time. I really must quit the day job!
