exhaust noise

hi i will be getting a rx7 in the new year but have a few things id like to find out before i do. ive got a bm at the mo and i got pulled for a to noisey exhaust. im selling it now so i can get a rx but just woundering how you lot get on with the rx as most are alot louder than me bm was. has anyone been stoped or got any info what might help me if i do get pulled again lol or maybe any ways round it cheers mike

Ive never been stopped (touch wood) im based in west london and quite often see a lot of police cars about. Id say my exhaust is the loudest on RAF Northolt and thats including the aircraft :rollin. You can get exhausts with bungs to go in the end to reduce noise.

Rotaries can be incredibly loud.  But a stock exhaust is quiet.

Ive got a 3" hks dp/3" straight through de-cat bolted up to a NurspecR rear (highly regarded as the loudest badboy going) and ive never been stopped. In fact i didnt even think they had a case against you for noise unless you get reported by a neighbour etc or for being a nuisance, as long as your mot\'d etc.

i think its somthing they are only just bringing in, ive read a lot of stuff on fourms that if they carnt provided you with the right db reading of the same car but standerd then they carnt do the test dont no if thats ture or not. i said to the police bloke what about the evos and stuff what they use they must be over the limit he reconed they are just in. me bm was 90db at idle and 97db at 4500 rpm. i got told the limit was 84db but me mates gf got stoped in a 200sx they told her the limit was 80, i dont think the police now what there doing lol

Recently bought mine, has a silenced de-cat and racingbeat single silencer. The woosh of the turbo\'s is the loudest thing on the car with this setup. May remover the mid silencer sometime soon as way too quiet:)

I think mine is about 110db but with that said next time i have it in work ill measure it.
