Just got back from picking my new car up from Brett (very nice guy who seems to like engines and stuff quite a fair bit ;) ).  Had a good 180 mile drive back and damn the car is loud at 70.  Feels great though and is definately better than the current EGI I have.  For starters the gearbox feels like a proper gearbox which is a bonus :)

Will get some pics up at the weekend anyway.
Now going to rest as I have been up since 3.30

Lol, yer 80 is best IMO.
Looking forward to the weekend now, so I can have a good look around the car.

Ah i wouldn\'t trust that brett. Everytime I see him on te road he tries to make me crash and then quotes the race drivers excuses handbook over and over.

anyway sounds like you got a goodcar. You see how much of a difference an exhuast makes on these egi\'s now? Its rediculous!

god luck!

lol, yer the exhaust does seem to make a big difference. Bonnet is also very light.  Biggest difference for me though is the smoothness of the gearbox compared to my other EGI.
My eldest heard me coming down the street last night and came runnung out of bed to see the new car.  he obviously loves it :)

Brett

Did you get a standing ovation from the missus?

Lol, no she didn\'t even bother to come out and see the car....... some people just don\'t understand.
I mention that she was lucky that we only have 4 cars compared to the scenario you mentioned with 9 on the go :)

Haha, has your good lady actually had a ride in any of yours?

1 point for getting her in it

Bonus point if there is no mention of why she can smell exhaust fumes throughout the journey.

MrHanky

Lol, no she hasn\'t been in any of the Mazda\'s as yet.  She does actually enjoy cars and has had a DC5, Supra and various Honda\'s herself.  But she doesn\'t have the slightest interest in the RX7\'s.

As for the smell, she hates it when I start the car next to the house as she reckons it is killing our kids with the fumes :)

She is actually coming along and driving on the Finmere day though.  Should be fun ;)

just thinking about it. thought you said the egi was not fast enough?
or do you have plans to use one as a play toy whilst the other is going in for a PP? :P
2 doritos on a stick woohoo :rollin

MrHanky

You are right Liam, my old EGI wasn\'t fast enough so I was looking down the lines of fitting manifold, induction, removing emissions stuff, finding an alu bonnet.  Then I found Bretts car and it was cheaper than all of the bits I was looking at, and had a rebuilt engine etc.  So I went for that.

If I had enough money I would keep one and then PP the spare engine, but I really dont have the funds for that at the moment.

I thought about a TII for a while but the potential problems put me off.  So far now this will do as it definately feels quicker than my other EGI :)
