Loss of power...multiple backfires???

Hi all,
can someone advise me please on what may have gone wrong with my car today? ( Stock FD )
 
I started it up with the engine fairly warm and went to pull away. As the title sugests I had very little power and if I put my foot down the engine backfired like a machine gun. Scarey stuff ... I was able to limp back home where,  I left it for a while then restarted the engine. It now is working as normal, so whatever it was cleared itself thankfully.

Hi Al,

Always difficult down the wire but it sounds like the ECU went into limp mode after seeing a boost spike or somthing else the ECU didn\'t like and went into safe mode to protect the engine (limp mode)

Disconnect the battery, leave it off for 15 minutes or so then reconnect and this should reset the ECU

Will reset the ECU tomorrow.
