Speaker help

Heyup peeps,I know it ain\'t rx7 related but I need help. Ive just wired up new speakers to the rear of a 1995 106 xn 1.0 and for some strange reason the speakers will not play. The cd player powers up but no sound ive used two wires going straight fro
the cd player to the speakers (+,-) and still no sound, I swapped the cd player for another one I have yet still nothing, I have even used the same wire and the same speakers and hooked them up to my home stereo and the speakers and cable are fine. Am I right in saying the car powers the cd player and the cd player powers the speakers, if this is true there should not be any problems yet no sound the cd player powers up and everything? Any electrical gurus on here that know the problem? Cheers
