Just after bringing my new FD home, over 400 miles and during the trip, I noticed a rattle that got progressively worse from the gearbox area on the journey. Now what I was wanting to know, how do I know if its the clutch thrust bearing or its the main layshaft bearing in the gearbox. I remember a mechanic once telling me, if you put your clutch pedal in, and the rattle goes away, its the blah blah bearing. Or any tests you would think I should try so you can give me a better answer?  Only asking, so I know to gather up the funds for another gearbox if needed. Another question is, if I do need to get the box sorted, who would do a refurb on one of these? Loads of questions, so little time! :spank   Any info gratefully accepted!

Clutch in and noise dissapears its the layshaft bearing and clutch out it\'s the thrust bearing if my memory serves me well. Most gearbox \'specialists\' are ..... (from my personal experience) so i\'d buy a \'box off a seller on here. Try Martin at Speedline Imports as he\'s a genuine seller :Thumbs-up

Was hoping you weren\'t going to say that, but at least I know I need a box :(  Cheers for the info :)
