Running a mates RX7 earlier on today when i noticed the temp approaching 100 (Defi gauge) but no cooling fans on :3Confused The standard gauge stayed at half reading. I turned the car off then switched the ignition back on and the fans ran for around 30 seconds then switched off again......any ideas??

The water temp gauge is notoriously inaccurate and I have know engines cook and die before the stock gauge decides to move,

All sounds fairly normal but to check your fans put your air con button in and this should kick the fans on and its worth having a look to see that both fans have kicked in and ones not dead

Hope this helps
All the best Clive

That does help Clive, many thanks! A mate of mine used to import (he camper converts them now) Mazda Bongos. He developed a temp alarm after losing a few engines to the non moving temp gauge..........must be a Mazda design flaw :(. I\'ll have to speak to him and see if his alarm will fit the RX7\'s, may be a winner!

Switched the air con on and the fans seem to work fine, does the ECU control the fans or would it be a switch or possibly a fan relay?
