I found these below last week when searching for trackday insurance and straight away signed up to them after talking Malcolm (Casey) who had had all the fine print checked out as this policy seem too good to be true,

They will only insure modified cars and the attraction was that within the policy 4 track days are included which can cost £400 plus alone

Also I got an agreed valuation on the RX-8 which no other company would give and paid £520

Company is /

lisa, absolutely superb and they remembered both you and clive, quoted 474 without track day cover and 547 with track day cover and all mods declaired. :Thumbsup! does not include drag racing only track and some airfield days.

Got my rotary insured with these guys as suggested and have just been robbed!!! Spoke with Mary who set up my policy and shes just cancelled it for me cos i never got the car registered in time!! Bloody daylight robbery. Premium was just over £1000 and you have to pay 30% cancellation fee. i.e. a loss of over £300.

Thought they were a good company???

I think there company sucks and would not remmond them to anyone! No felxibility at all with their policies.

I use to work for an insurance company and unless you can comply with the conditions of the policy and supply the necessary documents to them in the timescale required they will assume that you no longer wish to proceed and therefore cancel the policy.  You would have been advised of the request to send in the documents and the cancellation fee would have been in the policy documents.

Have you tried contacting them to see if they are prepared to reduce the cancellation fee? - if you don\'t ask, you will not know.

Other members, please do not be put of this insurance company as they are very good espaically if you are considering track days.  We also know that this company paid out to one of our members over £8,000 on a claim with very few questions asked.

Have you thought about sprinting the car?

By going down this route you can contact some of the motorsport companies. They will assume modifications will be made.....and frankly don\'t care whether you race or not.

My insurance for the Rx was £300 per year....and that was insured at £30k with every mod under the sun including a cage

Lisa,

I understand your point of view but if the tables were turned and u were £300 out of pocket i\'m sure u wouldn\'t be defending the company.

I explained to them that i was only insuring the car as to not loose out on my NCB as i have 6 years and was told it expires if not used within 2 years. It was 2 years so decided to insure it on the chassis number even though the car was not ready to be registered. They told me there was a 30 day limit. I asked if this was not met what would be the consequences. She explained that they could extend it as long as i advised them.

Before xmas the car was not complete and the garage had closed for xmas. I advised them this and they extended the deadline by 15 days. Now that made it the 7th jan 2011. Considering what i had told her that extension was not long enough. The car has only gone back to the garage the weekend just gone. All i got was a phonecall from Mary having a rant at me about missing the deadline and she basically made it quiet obvious that she never wanted to help me out and that she was going to cancel my policy.

I asked about suspending the policy etc and she told me to claim back compensation from the garage. I told her polietly that if i was to say that to a garage that is doing a job on my car costing £800-£900 and i wanted them to contribute to my loss they would politely tell me where to go.

The problem is this, if she wanted to have my business she would have found a way round it. That defines a good company from a bad company in my opinion. But she felt the need to enforce the full letter of the law which she is well within her right, and good luck to her. But she wont get my busniess again or any recommendations to friends.

I wait now for my refund and i will battle it all the way. I\'ve paid them £440 to date, lets see how long they sit on my hard earned cash before i see anything back from them. If they were a fair company they\'d just charge me 45 days (which was the length of the insurance) plus their so called admin fee for doing their job.

My younger brother just cancelled his insurance with another company and this was how they settled his cancellation.

So for my premium a fair company would charge £130 plus admin fee and this company will take £310 plus admin fee (based ion annual premium of £1035).

I will keep this thread posted with my progress.

Thanks
End of rant!

Having read this thread I gave REIS a call...

Bear in mind I\'m 31 years old, live in what I assume is a pretty average postcode and have owned my highly mod\'d FD for 5 years (been paying around £800 fully comp through Adrian Flux for the past few years). Also I have 6 years NCB.

The very nice people at REIS quoted me £351 fully comp AND this included 4 days of trackday insurance!

:god:god:god:god:god:god:god:god:god:god

Thanks for the tip, Lisa!!

RXSpeedy

I will almost certainly be phoning these for my next renewal, i payed 1300 fc with flux and tbh i think ive been a mug from what other people have been quoted. Thank you for the link Lisa.

Jono FD3

Just opted for the REIS company on insurance for the RX, All mods declaird and a policy price of £471.50, including the cover for other vehicles :)

Sky £595 with other car cover

Phoned a few yesterday for some quotes and was surprised one of the questions they asked was regarding previous ownership of Rx7\'s.

Its good to know they are know they are considering your history/experience with performance/modified cars.
