Well, new to this site, Im trying to find some info about putting an Fd engine into a mk2 escort. I am in the process of restoring an escort and I picked up an engine and box a couple of weeks ago. I have tried searching for info but its proving very hard to get any, i\'m sure it has been done by somebody before. I also drive an fd series6 which I was gonna keep the engine as a spare for. Any info would be appreciated, probably keeping twins also.

Hi Johnny and welcome to MRC

I\'m sure the Lindop Escort has "just" a 13B engine in it on carbs

An FD engine will be something else, especially if you get a single turbo on it to push it along,

Good luck with the project and keep us informed
All the best Clive

Cheers guys,
I have heard about a few rally rotary escorts but im guessing that there all carb. Just looking at the engine and escort this evening and it looks like its gonna be tight between the steering collum and turbo pack/exhaust. I want to keep the engine as far back for better weight distribution.
And Im from Longford patrickg293.

i know of the existence of two rally escorts with rotor power, both in aus ( one is SA, other WA )
- both with engine in the back seat space

check out utube for in-car clare stages with Mick malloney 13b non turbo engine and u might think of ditching turbo

Yeah would be nice to go non turbo but I\'m looking for a bit of power also. Would be easier to do non turbo also.

If ya putting the FD engine, ditch the twin turbo pack go single turbo with a custom manifold to reroute the turbo out of the way of the Steering coloum and shock tower simples this is what they do on turboed Rx2s and Rx3s

If you are thinking more down the route of n/a power then a 13b pp lump would be brilliant, you would be looking at 300 fwhp. In a car that small it would be like a rocket.
You could run It off an apexi ecu, just depends how much you are willing to spend on it?
Can\'t help you with any info on how to do it but I did see some rallying on the tv from Ireland and one guy had a 13b pp lump in his mk2 escort, sounded brilliant and went like stink!

Cmon Turbo it, NA is so last centuary lol, yes 300hp is pontent, but 450hp will be ballistic :D

Very true; turbo=more power but keeping it simple with n/a would be a better option maybe? Less weight aswell? Can change other components like ring and pinion for what type of driving it will be used for.
