hey lee, what sort of power are you putting out at the moment?

lee mills

Havent got a clue. Last time it was on a dyno made 450 @the wheels @.95 bar now its mapped to 1.4 bar so im guessing about 520ish @ the wheels

turbotoaster

thats on pump fuel with w/i or race gas? what sort of terminal speed are you hitting over qtr?

lee mills

pump fuel with w/i. dont know about terminals yet as havent been down strip since its been done

turbotoaster

bet you get pretty early boost on it with your bridgeport, now i see why you said you didnt run anymore boost than 1.4 when he said it wasnt making anymore power, if you wanna run more boost on pump fuel you will need alot more water and also possibly better spark amplifier.

Im guessing aquamist kit and twimpower setup currently?

lee mills

The boost situation was with my last setup. Current set up is fine full boost by 4400rpm and plenty more room for more power if i want to go down the race fuel route.

turbotoaster

about 600bhp on pump fuel is good going, prob max the turbo out on race fuel at 700bhp on 2bar :)

If anyone has a power fc going for sale let me know, it must be a s4 though and its for a 1994 (8bit)

turbotoaster

good news progress has started, even if its only a little bit, liam(LI8M) has sourced me a s4 power fc from japan and i should recieve it sometime next week, next up cooling!

again, totally different angle but and interesting read of power figures / moneyz / achievements.....

^^^^ very interesting article, though they keep going round the Nardi bowl until they max out, so running out of road is not a problem for them, it would be interesting to see how many of those cars in that test would hit 200mph from a standing start with only a mile and half of road

Something we found out at Bruntingthorp was that standing start vs rolling starts made little difference to top speeds achieved there.

You can take the bottom corner easily at 70mph and have the 1.5 mile streight to go at from there.

A few guys span trying to drift it and their top speeds were near as damn it the same as going round the bend and carrying 60-70 mph on to the streight.

Guess it might be different with a toy that has Veyron equalling power though - at those speeds whole counties go past if you blink slowly.

in this there is an abandoned run to give a view what it looks like, for reference hes changing from third to fourth at 115mph and fourth to fifth at 175mph.

He also mentions you dont really gain anything by taking the corner but saves putting pressure on your diff and gearbox, hence ill be doing it as i dont think a auto diff is rated for a full 700bhp launch lol

.
With a rolling start of 70mph yes agree very little difference, on the Nardi speed bowl its very different, they have a rolling start of 150 plus hahaha
and have as much distance as they want until they can see the revs in top gear wont go up any more.

For example you might hit 190 after a mile and a half, if you had another two miles you probably get another 10mph maybe

The new Noble weights about 1050kg has 650 hp and has a top speed of 225mph. according to top gear. so maybe aim for that kind of weight drop 200kg,
