filler neck thermo housing weirdness???

ok i just bought a filler neck jobby to polish up... random question, the one on my car the rad neck bit you can remove (which im going to do to fit a fc filler neck and remove the ast...) however this one doesnt remove?? its welded or cast on its a whole piece?



is this part of a phase changeover or something?

if so anyone got a older one that u can unbolt they would wanna swap? or anyone want to buy this off of me lol? could polish if you want?
