Just putting a parts list together for my home rebuild,

according to rotary art, apex seals are £90 each including vat ! (for gen mazda 2mm 2 piece ones)

But thats £540 for a full set !!

Surely you can get them cheaper than that?

Do the dealers themselves do it for less?

Clarky

I have a brand new set, think they are Atkins, also a new set of solid corner seals if you are interested, not sure what they are worth yet iv\'e not looked.
Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself...
But i can always do with some help now due to, my advancing years!

You sure that\'s not for a set of 6 (full number for a 2 rotor engine) ;)

i think it was about £200 for a full set of 6, 2mm (apex tips) for TII rebuild.
3mm tips were about £500 lol
2 doritos on a stick woohoo :rollin

heres the link to rotary art

its just under the white pictures.

My mistake though, its actually £69.17 inc vat = £415 but that sill seems a little steep?

think i\'ll pop into a local mazda dealers and see what they say?

clarky im interested, give me an email at mattclark85@hotmail.com when you get chance

Magicmat

the 69 on the rotary art site looked like an 89...

Ada7

Ring around the tuners and see what price they can do them for. Reworks, Rx Motors, Drangon Perfomance will all have them

give him a call you\'ll probably find it\'s incorrect linking on his website. That\'s probably the price for a set of pts seals or something, but ha sbeen incorrectly linked to the page where the stock mazda ones are.

yehreally

got 5 unbreakable seals 2mm 2 piece (set of 6 was £240) ...if you can source one more it might save some cash make an offer...done a few hundred miles :Talking1 let me know if you want pics etc

Magicmat

hi \'yehreally\'

What make are they? i orginally was going to go for mazda ones.

Im guessing you did a few miles in them and broke one?

Prof

I think the PTS ones are about £500-£600 for a set of 6 (2 or 3mm)

The East Coast ones are slightly cheaper, and then the Hurley seals are cheaper again - not sure what these are like but seems some people have had good results with them.

The PTS and East Coast ones are the \'unbreakable\' type, so will twist rather than crack.  You can still lose an engine because of blow by, and countles other failures - but likelyhood is the Apex seals will be reusable.

Seems the FD or solid corner seals are favoured for rebuilds, rather than the older style ones (if you\'re rebuilding an older engine - pre FD).

It\'s worth investing in the DVD\'s as well, if you\'re going to do the rebuild yourself.

Cheers prof,

I cant see me needing the PTS ones because i don’t ever intend to run silly boost etc. When i go single turbo i’ll only ever be after 380 at the fly..maybe wheels if i get greedy. Also unsure about the Hurley ones, i read on atkins that they are softer than standard which is why they bend rather than break. BUT i know that is a biased view...hence planned on going for mazda apex seals

I have both dvd’s and i think bruce is the man and by far the better teacher.

I can keep drifting the beamer for now (although using it as a daily too aint fun :p ) and just rebuild the engine over winter.

The kid in me says get playing ! the adult in me says be sensible...

Speedworks

in Europe, OEM apex seals are +- 90 euro a piece at the dealership... .......s...
