All i know is the gtr was fastest today and I was 1st in class and 5th overall. Still trying to get to grips with the handling etc. But it went well apart from one small thing. It\'s quite annoying when a kerb  goes through your dump when flat in 4th gear pulling 9000rpm. No oil left in engine almost instantly. Oops.

We were all taken by surprise with the skyline. Not so much more power for me but better handling.
Practice 1   Off road excursion brake imbalance
Practice 2 Understeer
Timed 1    Understeer
Timed 2    Understeer
Timed 3    Understeer/ditch/ tore hole in sump game over for the day
Timed 4    Had a beer and watched

The general opinion is that my car(which "I" own and built) is/was the fastest there in a straight line. In fact many peeps were quite astounded by it.

The sump has been repaired and will go back on some time this week. The car is then off to a company who I cannot name for now who set up BTCC cars, GT cars lemans cars to get the understeer issues sorted. We also seem to think that the ttracking relation between the front and rear is a bit like an indy car. The company will put it on thier rig and do the corner wieghts, dampers, springs, alignment etc. This will give me a base to work from with data to fall back on if my adjustments do not work. I can just go back to the base settings and start again.
When I pick the car up its off to abingdon for some private testing to try some things out before the carnival sprint back there in June.
All in apart from the issues on Sunday I am very happy with it and it looks good for moving up to where I should be in the finishing order

sounds good,  have you tried doing some track days to get some seat time and make adjustments at the track?

I cant do track days now. Noise is an issue as mine comes in at 108db static and my fuel tank is only 5ltrs so I wont get far.
At least with the session at abingdon in may its a sprint course and I can go as many times as I like so will make adjustments between runs. Plus its good to go max on cold tyres and brakes as thats what we get at sprints.

108db

i thought they had noise limits on sprinting events,  obviously not!  I found increasing the wedge,  ie raising the rear and lowering the front made big differences with understeer.

110db static for sports and libre cars unless its notified in the supplimentary regs hence the reason I cant run at goodwood circuit with Rob Farley.

And yes they are going to look at my wedge. Probably take most of my wedge but I will get some more from the boss the following week

I tryed to get the sump back on yesterday and as much as I like gravity to keep us on earth, when you are working under the car I wish gravity could be switched off. Try juggling, sump, windage tray and pickup while trying to get bolts in and cetralise it all. It just was not going to happen.
So engine will be out in about half an hour. This is ok as we can also now helicoil the damaged threads from previous attempts by others.
So the plan is to get it out in a bit. Then down to the auto factors for the kit. BBQ and then Tony from Top Performance Services (shameless free plug for Tony) will pop over to give me a bit of help to get it all back in the car tonight.

Engine is out. It might be a kit car with detachable panels everywhere to make it "easier" but never again will I do it by leaving the gearbox in. I will take the box out now just so I can line it all up easier when it goes back together. Might put the MX5 box in while I am at it;)
