hello people! today I had fit a quick shift and had to remove it and go back to stock shift as it sounded like i was driving around with a whine noise (constand griding noise) same noise as to the noise if your in 1st gear and you push the gear stick forward when its already in gear if you can understand.

Basically i did notice the gearbox did not look central in the tunnel.. I had to prise the gearbox over towards the middle and get a spanner on the driver side front bolt of the stock shift as the socket wouldn’t go down due to the gearbox not been central inside the tunnel? Is this due to the power plant frame fitted incorrectly as i am also getting a dodgy noise from the gearbox area when it is under hard acceleration or load but on.. and also a knocking noise from somewhere when the clutch is pressed which knockings faster when the engine is revving until you release the clutch. (sounds like its from the pilot bearing area)
All gears are easy to select.
If any one could help me that would be appreciated.
Thank you.

This picture from another forum member is also very similar to my setup although i can just access the bottom right bolt. thanks

I have a proper B&M shifter fitted and it does make more noise than the standard box, not sure what would cause it? It doesn\'t always do it.

Your box sits very far to the right, it should sit more centred so you can access all bolts.

Check the ppf isnt cracked and done up tight.  might be worth checking you engine mounts too.

I had a simliar prob with mine when I fitted my B&M shifter. I had to *ahem* clearance the trans tunnel access a wee bit with a Dremel to get one of the bolts out...thus;

I did later find that the PowerPlant Frame was mullered on my car, but whether that was the cause of the problem, I dunno. Even then, it was nowhere near as squiffy as that pic you\'ve posted
