Hi folks,

Does anyone have any thoughts on materials to make custom intercooler ducting from?

I\'ve just bought a Trust SMIC which needs some custom ducting and wondering what people use? Never used fibreglass so was thinking of some sort of sheeting? Alu?

Cheers :)

Paul.

foamex, you can heat it and mold it to the shame you want...

I got sheet alu from B&Q, i cut short the stock feed where it was wonkey (by the stock I/C, leaving the front feed section the sits in the front bumper as this seemed a right pain to replicate) then I measured up using cardboard, cut the metal, bolted it to the original plastic feed and hey presto. I used some kind of sticky foam tape which I found in B&Q (sticky on oneside) to seal up any joins etc to stop any air escaping.
:Laugh LOL

Wont the foamex get hot in the engine bay and warp?

If you create one mate, would love to see a template as I am thinking of doing something with mine but never got round to it.

Cheers peeps I\'ll give it a go...using the original one as a start sounds good to me. My front bumper also has a vent right at the front so I want to use that too, tho I might try and get that to the filters some how.

use foamex then coat it with carbon or fiberglass to stop it moving...

then remove the foamex ;) foamex get\'s very brittle in the cold & will shatter if something hits it!!

fibreglass! it\'s like paper maché for grown-ups.

make a template out of whatever you want - plywood, balsa, that florist\'s foam stuff - then coat it with a release agent and fibreglass on top. these guys are pretty helpful:
