Well, its out of 2 cars really. Just want something fun and to use as a runaround... So dont want to spend ££££\'s.

My first plan was to get another Honda CRX and forge/turbo it.. But in the back of my mind i always keep thinking will i be happy with it.:3Confused

While looking around, I quite like the oldskool look of Gen 2 rex.:mmmm So that got me thinking. I have done alot of research on Fds as i was very close to buying one. Are they similar?

So heres to research :D

But in the meantime.. Can you spoon feed me info on them.:Talking1. Like qtr mile times, Rebuild costs? Weight? What are they like to drive etc.. Even pics of your ride.. :)

Try and sell me the car, lol...

Thanks all...

Well the general opinion is that FD\'s handle slightly better. Once you put that aside they are pretty similar cars. TBH it all depends what kinda power your wanting from the car. With breather mods and a decent map and more boost, i believe you can see 300 bhp quite cheaply. Anything more and your going to be looking at changing the turbo, fuel pump, injectors ecu etc etc. Couple that with a nice big street port or bridge port and you could realistically see 450bhp. I think it starts getting a bit more complicated above that as a lot of stuff will need strenghtening. Bang for buck. the FC is a lot better than the FD depending on how far you want to take it.

quater mile times are completely dependent on your set up and driving capability. Though 400 bhp can see low 13\'s. Weight is something like 1250-1450 kg\'s depending on extra\'s, I guess you could get it down quite a bit with some stripping.
Rebuild costs are probably slightly less than fd\'s due to the twins

Driving... They are extremely nice to drive. Plenty of space, easy to heel toe, the driving position is spot on. steering feedback is great (if the car isn\'t knackered that is). The handling is awesome, extremely predictable on the limit, the back end comes out nicely if you push it, untill you hit a drain cover in the wet.

Ive currently got two :D  a non turbo and a turbo II. and i can\'t get enough.

My main bit of advice would be to get a car with a decent chasis. Don\'t worry too much about the engine because they all go pop eventually, and if you\'re handy with a spanner you can rebuild it yourself.

Anyhu, a gen 2 fc will put a crx to shame :D, just slam it and get some decent wheel fitment and it will look the nuts.  Or if your more into body kits....http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54453

welcome :D

You\'ve seen mine at Guys court. Quarter mile times are just over 15sec stock I think (turbo models). But with a few mods this can be cut by a chunk. Weight depends on the model cab or coupe between 1250kg and 1450kg I think. Rebuilds are the big thing really. Do it your self and you can save a packet or a specialist can cost from £3000-£4500 depending on what you have done. Alot of people get it ported at the same time in the quest for more power. Handleing is awesome for the age of the cars. Leaves Skylines for dust on the twisty stuff. Rust is a big factor in these cars now so watch out. I\'m sure someone else with more knowlege of these cars will be on soon to give more advise/figures.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

Lol.. Cheers chaps.... Are uk TIIs rare or something? been looking and theres not much out there.  How much does a decent one go for nowadays? Will be looking at getting one in a few months time. Got a few things to pay for inc what the wife pays for, like random holidays:2Rolleyes...

Id be happy with around 300/50bhp tbh. Skyline was alot more, it became undrivable.. Lol..

Crx\'s are great little track cars, but having had one before.. the FWD and lack of APS puts me off. But i still want a rwd run around until i get a gtr. And the rx7 fd and fc has always been in the corner of my eye..

Tiddles, I vaguely remember looking over your motor.. Was you with Ash?

dthebuk

err uk TII\'s arn\'t too rare. where are you looking?
Tbh i find my TII too much for roads. It spins the rears when it hits boost in 2nd gear in a straight line. As cool as that is...i like being able to throw the egi where ever and when ever without having to worry about what the turbo\'s doing. The TII is just running breather mods and double stock boost.

As for price. it depends what you want. Mine cost £1k with 20k on the engine. Though it needs new polybushes all round. Probably spent about £1k on it already. 2k should get you one in good nick with a reasonable amount of miles.

and do you mean new gtr? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mob3zLf5voQ

as for fc\'s http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mazda-RX7-TII-Convertible-Show-Car-63K_W0QQitemZ120412642588QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item120412642588&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A7%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

cant get on pistonheads atm its being rubbish

Thats me alright. And thats how I know they leave Skylines behind on twisty stuff.
What happened to your monster R33 project?
Oh and I\'d say TII\'s are rare espcially uk ones most have gone to the scrap yard in the sky.
One point that I can\'t emphisise enough though. Yhave to do your research with these cars. Just bolting mods on doesn\'t always help, infact you can hurt/hinder the car and its performance. Horror stories you read about rotarys are generally people who didn\'t do their research before doing something or not doing something they should have.
Oh and after 2 1/2 years on here I still don\'t know half of the stuff I should about he cars. Always learning something new about them.
