catboy

can someone give me a recommendation on the above...

I have a 1989 Turbo II, which is standard apart from a cat-less exhaust, and am looking to do an oil/filter/spark-plugs change at the end of this month...    ...I use the car as everyday transport, (dont know if this makes a difference) and the engine was re-built about 35,000 miles ago...

I know I need mineral oil, and not semi/fully synthetic, but does anyone have a preference/recommendation for decent mineral oil?...

Also, what spark-plugs would you recommend, bearing in mind I dont want to spend £40 a go on race plugs or anything OTT!...

Thanks in advance guys

i have just started to put castrol 20/50 in mine and it seems to like it

its coded something like sf ( god knows what it means but the mazda book says use sd/se/sf - but dont quote me on that ! )

the plugs are something like br10et ( again some thing like that ) and the t means triple electrode

halfords sell them for 10 each , but surprisinly enough you can get them from mazda for 7

hope this makes SOME sense

thanks

Stu

Mazda Recomend 10/30 i belive for the Rotary only problem is there aint many places that sell it.

I used 10/40 GTX for a long time with no problems.

Just stay away from Fully synthetic oil, the Rotary injects engine oil into the Chamber to Lubricate the Apex tips, what happens most Synthetics are not designed to burn clean and causes a Residue that makes the Apex/Side seals stick in the Rotor.

As for Plugs i think Glen has put up a Plug chart? Not one of my Strong points.

One thing about the Plugs, Check the lenths (if they have washers on etc) and a Visual comparison before you fit and try to start the car.

cheers guys...   I have spoken to mazda, and they have the oil and fuel filters in stock, and can get me BR10ET spark plugs with a couple of days notice (£6.22 Each....    ...is that a new record?.. ;) )

As for oil, I have a really nifty little shop just down the read from me, and they have 10W30, 10W40, 20W50, etc., etc... so will probably go for the 10W30 (depending on price) if thats what Mazda recommend

Thanks again

Hi Catboy!

Sorry - this one must have slipped through, I didn\'t see it and the plug recommended.

The BR10ET plugs are only for the non-turbo 2nd gen. RX-7.

Sorry about that.
Thanks,
